I'm getting engaged soon and my soon to be fiance and I are looking at rings. I am absolutely in love with sapphire rings and love the look of what was Princess Diana's and now Kate Middleton's sapphire ering. I cant stop thinking about a sapphire ring i saw that looks very similar. i think its gorgeous and exactly my style. kate and i have similar taste ;) but i want other opinions on if it's weird or odd for me to have an ering like Kate's? does anyone else have sapphire rings that look like hers as well?? pictures would be great, thanks for your opinions :)

I don't think it is weird at all. I would take her ring in a heart beat (maybe a smaller version though!) I hope you get it soon and post pictures. Sounds like it will be very beautiful!

@missguin:  I love the idea! I've been wanting a ring like hers just because! I think it's gorgeous. How about something like this?

If you love the same exact style which is NOT weird at all.. I would buy this in a heartbeat! I like the smaller versions of her ring.

i would looooooooove a ring like Kate's. I don't think it's weird! Plenty of people got similar rings in the 80s when Princess Di was given it!

I think you should follow your dream and get the ring that rocks your world! Sorry I don't have any examples, but lots of people here have blue sapphire engagement rings. The are definitely a beautiful (and popular) choice.

I love her ring!  I want to get a blue sapphire right hand ring someday.

I also love this oval one:

I don't have any real photos, but I would appreciate it if any other bees do :)  I have definitely seen some stunning sapphire rings here!

Oh, I LOVE THEM. I tried a few on when we were shopping for e-rings. I ended up with something else (that I love dearly). The other day he was flipping through some pictures on his phone and one of the ones I tried on popped up...it took my breath away. I told him I'll be needing a sapphire ring with a halo of diamonds in about 10 years lol.

@missguin:  You will get comparisons.. but if you're ok with that, go ahead! You probably want something a bit smaller for daily wear, though.

I have a sapphire and people comment all the time that it's like Kate's, although the shape and size are definitely quite different. I never really thought I wanted a colored e-ring but I absolutely fell in love when he proposed. I love how unique they are and how I have never met anyone in person that has a sapphire engagement ring like mine. I say go for it!!! I have never once regretted mine :)

I love Diana/Kate's ring!  It is gorgeous.  I love larger stones around coloured centers.  So you get the vibrance of the sapphire but some great sparkle from the halo stones.

    Nope. Sapphires are gorgeous!

Ahem. Not that having a sapphire myself makes me biased...

I Have a sapphire e ring. Similar to hers bug not exact. Lol mine is a 1.15 carat Ceylon sapphire with 52 round brilliant cut diamonds. The bee has trouble loading my photos so here's one. I have more photos if you want ;)

I find untreated blue sapphires to be GORGEOUS (though quite costly). If I were to have one, I would choose a different style than Dutchess Kate's, just because hers is so well-known and the design possibilities are limitless... why choose the same as hers?

I love it and personally before she got engaged I was thinking of a sapphire ring like her's.  However, I have waaay to much of a similar taste to her, and because of that I decided not to get a saphire ring, just in case people thought I was trying to copycat her.  However, I became engaged not too long after her so that was what influenced my decision.  I think her engagement buzz has long dissipated (now its the baby buzz of course!) so if you were concerned about that I don't think you'd have to worry.  In other words, if you love it go for it!

Oh and because I love sapphire rings and eventually want one, I made it clear at some point in time I'd love to get a dark blue sapphire ring, similar to hers ;)

Haha I have a sapphire ring and people comment all the time that it's like Kate's, though it's really not AT ALL except in that involves a sapphire and diamonds, lol. If you love that style of ring, go for it! It's a lovely style.

@missguin:  mine is a pear shaped sapphire and I hear a lot how it looks like Kate's! I love the timelessness of it as well as the uniqueness....not to mention blue is my favorite color!

@missguin:  Ah we must be twins! I love that style for a ring, (not identical to hers but similar) but I think that a constant comparison to hers would bother me. Especially since I'm english and moving to the US!

    Have you decided yet?

@walnutgirl:  Thanks so much!!  I'm not sure where he got it.  All I know is that he got it from an online store.  I'll see if I can find out.
