After our first big wedding ring shopping day, I learned a few things that surprised me. For one, Pave diamonds are just so uncomfortable against my finger, I can’t imagine pave as an every-day ring wear for me (but my goodness, OOOOHHHH SSOOOOO sparkly and delicate!) I also found this with milgrain detailing, which was a real heartbreaker, becuase I adore the delicate look of milgrain beading.
I really have my heart set on some kind of eternity band. With pave out of the lineup, I suppose I’m looking at prong, bezel or channel set..right? I tried on a beautiful 3ct round diamond prong set band (too much bling for me, but quite stunning) and couldn’t help but think that it just looked too delicate for the lifestyle I live. Sure, we will insure the ring, but I really don’t want to need to use that option, I want a ring I can wear for life without mishaps. Not to mention the prongs were quite itchy against my skin (inbetween my fingers) and when doing my “can I run my hands through my hair” test found that the prongs caught, and were generally not as comfortable as I had imagined.
Have I basically narrowed it down to bezel or channel set? Which one would be the more sturdy option? I tried on a beautiful bezel set eternity wedding band a while back, and I LOVED it, but then after trying on a channel set ring this past weekend, it just looked so wedding-ring-ish to me, (this is a good thing, haha) and like it would truely stand up over time (and running a company, and household, and raising five kids, ect ect ect)

Here is my e-ring with the bezel set eternity that I first fell in love with:
And here’s the channel set that I tried on this weekend:

I have channel set diamonds on both my e-ring and wedding band and they are very secure. I pretty much never takes my rings off and have been wearing my e-ring since Sept. ’09 with zero issues.
I can’t really speak to a bezel setting though.

For an eternity band, either channel or bezel. Neither has prongs and both have metal surrounding the stone edges so you probably won’t knock or crack any stones. I think you should pick the one you like the most. 🙂

Both are lovely! For your set, I really like the look of the princess channel band with your ering.

I have a bezel set band and I LOVE it.
I vote bezel since it’s a little less common then channel set, but is very secure and beautiful.

Bezel or channel is going to be the most secure, with channel being probably SLIGHTLY more so. (I’m a jeweler.)

I was told by my jeweler that bezel settings are the most secure, when done properly. My ering and my wedding band are bezel set.
I really like the waythe bezel set band looks with your ring!

I seriously LOVE that channel set band with your GORGEOUS engagement ring!

i have an eternity band like the first pic. it’s actually semi-bezel because the bezel doesn’t go all the way around each diamond. i love this band and looks great with my ering.
with your ering, i think the channel set looks better. they are both straight bands. they are perfect together.

I agree with @tonights: channel or bezel, in that order.
also, they are the most comfortable! (no prongs to dig in)

Not sure about security but the channel looks gorgeous with your ring.
