I think as long as you have a nice setting, enough seating for the guests, and a weather plan (i.e., a tent or a backup location), then a backyard wedding can be beautiful.  Restaurant receptions – particularly in a private room – are nice, as well. I think with this style wedding/reception, keeping the guest list small and intimate helps a lot.

A  friend did this and it was elegant and beautiful from beginning to end.

I’m sure it will depend on a lot of factors like formality of wedding and number of guests but personally, I love them!! 😀

I’ve seen number of backyard weddings on blogs and they all looked really cool and intimate. It’s like a fancier version of house party/ BBQ. I would love it.

You can be really creative in decorating the house and backyard.

I love backyard weddings, but don’t like the idea of having to leave this type of location to then go to a restaurant reception. I would much rather the reception be held there.

Assuming it’s a nice backyard, I’m all for it! Yes, some people may think of it as a way to save money, but who cares? If it’s a nice setting, it’s a nice setting. I love the feel of backyard/restaurant weddings.

We are seriously thinking of asking FI if we can use her garden. It’ll bbeautiful in the summer with all her flowers. Best of luck with your decision.

LOVE them, woudl have done one myself but my backyard faces an apartment complex and power lines lol.  So it takes the right kind of backyard, I guess, but overall I wish I could have done mine that way.  We’re doing a park wedding followed by a restaurant dinner instead, which is the next best thing if you don’t have a great backyard 🙂
