I want a designer gown without the designer prices.  Is it cheesy to buy a used gown?

Not at all - in fact, I am in love with the idea. I think it's a great way to get your dream dress even if you don't have a sky high budget. I'm planning on trying on dresses early, and then scouring the sites so that I'll know the dress will look good on me.

I agree with BunnyBlue. It's a "greener" choice than buying a new gown, too. I wanted to, go that route, but the only used dresses I found in my size were much, much more expensive than the brand-new J.Crew gown I ended up choosing in the end, and I just couldn't afford them.

Of course not. And anyone that tells you so can fork over the cash to pay full retail price Wink

Heck no!  Pre-owned wedding dress does not correlate with cheesy to me.  I think it is green, budget conscious, resourceful, etc.  If you are absolutely in love with a dress you can't afford new, or even if you can afford it new, why pay more if you don't have to?  Just beware of shady sellers and internet scams when purchasing.  Go through somewhere/someone reputable.

I think it's an absolutely great idea!  I really thought about going this route, I would scour preownedweddingdresses.com daily!

I ended up finding a dress I loved at a bridal salon that I never saw on any of the preowned sites!

i agree with the previous posts made. i actually found the dress on wedding bee from a former buyer instead of paying $1600 im paying half that amount and the dress has been dry cleanned and the alterations that have been made fit my measurements. But i would be careful of scammers and always purchase thru paypal or escrow.

Don't forget too that a lot of dresses on the resale websites haven't been used at all - so you may even be able to score a new gown for a great price!

NotFroofy and I bought our gowns used.  Besides saving us money, it meant we got to try on the actual dresses we would wear, rather than using a sample and trying to imagine how it would look in our sizes.  We also got to take the dresses home the same day we chose them, instead of having to wait months. What do you think of buying a used Wedding Dress? : wedding gowns dress used Dress

I think it's a great idea! I was considering it myself. There are some great dresses out there up for sale (preownedweddingdress.com). I would just be smart with the purchasing option if bought online.  Some of the preowned dresses are even in better condition than the sample gown since they were worn just once by brides who might have taken great care with them.

I think it's a great idea, I scoured sites for my gown, but unforunately had to buy it new because i just couldn't find a size 6 champagne version of my gown online. But if you can- power to you. But I would make sure you find out what style and size you want at a regular botique store :o)
