I think it’s cute, but it seems like it might be hard to do?  We did a tree planting, but we planted the tree into a flower pot and transferred it after the wedding.

@MiraJo:  Looks lovely!  Though I don’t think that’s not a fisherman’s knot.  Unless, of course, two things are called a fisherman’s knot, which is completely impossible, right?  I bring it up because it might affect your ability to find instructions for the knot you actually want.

@MiraJo:  I’m not sure.  Ours was actually a boxwood bush, but we kept it in the pot for approx 18 months after planting it.

I love this idea! And I think displaying your knot with the “guest book” will look amazing.

@MiraJo:  I don’t know, really.  If I had to guess, I’d say a figure 8 knot, but I could be totally wrong.  I don’t want you to end up trying to make a figure 8 knot look like this picture, and keep failing at it, because it is, in fact, the wrong knot, lol.  And it could well be called a fisherman’s knot, but just be a different one from the one I learned in Scouts.
