I think it's super cute. I agree that cutting the flowers lower is a good idea. If they were closer to the top of the kettle it would look fuller.
Other than that I think it looks quite lovely indeed!
They look a LOT better cut down some!
Are you adding anything else? Maybe some votives?
Looks really nice. We had white hydrangeas mixed in with our sunflowers and it was a nice poofy filler but I like what you've got a lot.
i like where this is headed but it needs more of a punch to me. If you had a graphic checked pattern underneith, like a table runner, that'd really make things stand out.
I think they would look great with some white hydrangea, like bvig suggested! Some other flowers to make it fuller would be a good idea, but I like them so far!
I like the longer stem in the first photo, and I think using a wide blue ribbon would be very pretty!!
Love em!!!!
I definitely agree about the thicker blue ribbon-- I just haven't made my ribbon shopping trip to Michael's yet. I think that I will probably do something else around it, probably some votives. I am also going to be having white table clothes at the venue and blue napkins, so I might use an unfolded napkin under the watering can as a pop of color in the center of the table.
Thanks for all the suggestions for hydrangea or another flower. I'll need to do some more experimenting and see what works best.
I.LOVE.IT
And personally, I prefer the taller arrangement :D
I like the shorter stems a lot more. With the blue ribbon, it would look lovely. I would make it a nice fabric ribbon though, that way it would lay a lot cleaner, and you can just glue it to the tin.
Yay!! I am so glad people like it! It sounds like reviews on the taller/shorter variations are mixed. I may have to try it with a mix of both, and potentially with the hydrangeas everyone is talking about.
Also, I'll be using floral foam for my actual arrangements, so I am guessing that will help me to make them be fuller and stay in place better
Cute! I agree about the blue ribbon. I think you should shoot for something between the tall and short versions. In the tall, the flowers overpower the can a bit, but in the short they look kind of squished. So I say go for medium ;)
Love it - I think raffia would add a lot of punch and dimension - maybe a blue hygrangea for filler and to help them stay in place with the sunflowers.
If you're on a limited budget dont worry about the hydrangeas in my opinion. They can be kind of costly
Plus, I like this whole "picnic-y" theme that's going on here.
I think it looks super cute and you were right on with cutting the flowers shorter. The wide ribbon sounds like a good idea too. Nice work!
Very pretty! Sunflowers make me smile :) I agree that it could use some extra fullnes or oomph. What about baby's breath? Fills in space without being too bossy...
Thanks for the comments everyone-- in other centerpiece thoughts, I am going to do about half the tables at the reception with the sunflowers + possible yet-to-be-determined-white-filler-floer, then the other half with these lanterns from IKEA:

I am thinking I will also tie a blue ribbon around the top of the lantern and possibly wire a sunflower head to the top handle along with the ribbon. Thoughts?
(Many of you have mentioned that this look has country flair, which is kind of what I am going for. Our wedding is in my small hometown at a Victorian Train Station that is now a restaurant. The primary seating will be outside on the back deck (what was the train platform).
And because I can't resist, here's a picture of my beautiful venue taken from the train tracks!

OK, my fantabulous BM Jenn, who is also a bride-to-be, but has yet to join WB (encourage her, Bees!), just looked at the centerpieces and suggested potantially paining the watering cans blue. And I thought maybe finding a stencil that coordinates with my theme, or use our Initial or something, and stencil the cans with blue paint.
Thoughts?
I agree on the thicker ribbon! But what about using mason jars as votive holders? Could be super cute! I think leaving the watering cans silver is a better idea, but I don't really like the look of painted metal so I'm definintely biased! Loooove them though!

OK, so they had some Sunflowers at the grocery store today, so I decided to do a trial run of my centerpieces. What do you think?
So, I am thinking I may cut the flowers a little lower. Also, my colors are blue and gold, so I think the ribbon will be blue on the real thing.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Things you would change? The Sunflowers are a definite, but I don't know what other flower I would be using. What do you guys think?
