I am trying to cram as much info onto our invitations as I possibly can, so I don't think there will be any more room for more text. I don't really want to have to buy separate reception cards, but I still want people to know where to go.
I like quotes on ceremony programs. If you really want to use a quote, could you put it there?
I think its a wonderful idea to put something on your invitation that embodies something of your relationship and who you are. While invitations are formal requests to join you in a celebration, they should also be a reflection of you as a couple and have some personal aspect to them.
I say go for it.
I'm trying to figure out where to put one on ours. I love quotes. :)
now the issue will be figuring out which one to use!!
A quote might be a nice way to jazz up the envelope -- back flap or bottom front left?
My wedding invitations are already out since I'm having a destination wedding but I need to work on my at-home reception invitations and was trying to decide if I wanted it on there. I do have a quote I LOVE but I'm rreally unsure if I'd use it. Its just one line from the peom by e.e cummings "i carry your heart with me(i carry it in my heart)"
There's more to the poem I just picked one line.
@ bruschetta - I like that idea! I never even considered putting it on my envelope! Thanks.
I think quotes are a cute idea, I remeber Miss Quiche put a quote on the top of her invitations and they were so cute!
@ Nita: No prob! I think that would be so cute and unique...and maybe even inspire guests to KEEP the envelope? (And, of course, the invitation.)
I like unusual quotes, or quotes that aren't overused. Something that makes me go "Aww!" I used a quote from my favorite love sonnet. If you're a romantic, go for it.
I see a lot of "Cheesy" answers up there, I'm guessing those people just aren't lovey dovey romantic types?
i saw an invitation set with the wedding quote on the envelope liner. i thought it was a wonderful detail.
My FH and I both love quotes, but how do you pick the perfect one to put on an invitation. So what I thought about doing is printing a few up on nice paper, with a pretty font...you know nice little touches to fit in with your colors and theme. Then I will put them in picture frames and set them on tables around the reception area. It's just an idea...my wedding is 5 months away, I could change my mind again. LOL![]()
I think it depends on what the quote is, and where the placement is on the invitation.
I do graphic design for a living, so we get requests like this all the time. Usually something short, like a line or two is perfect. Anything longer will distract from the actual event.
I love the quote idea. I am haviing a quote printed on the liner before I attach it to the inner envelope. Love Envelopperinc.com!!
I have mixed feelings on them. If I see a really original one (I love the ee cummings one!), I think I'd appreciate it more. Usually I see the same Shakespeare or "And our two hearts will become one" or something like that and I'm not terribly impressed. I really like the idea of the quotes on the table at the reception, though!

I was wondering what everyone thought about quotes used on wedding invitations, I'm a little unsure if I want to use one. What are your thoughts?
