I have a student named Juliet, and I know the day we start our Romeo and Juliet unit she’ll never hear the end of it. It’s a beautiful name though.

@forgetaboutme:  I’m biased because it’s the name of one of my bffs but I love it.

I would not want to name my kid after Juliet. It’s not like she’s this grand heroine. In school you always study Romeo and Juliet, there’s no avoiding it. I would hate for someone to associate my daughter with the silly girl whose crush led to the deaths of 6 people, including herself.

My friend named her daughter Juliet and I think it’s a pretty name and not too common!

@forgetaboutme:  Juliette is nice and also not too common. It’s a subtle difference, but just enough to where the reference is there without saying, “I’m a star-crossed lover. Wherefore art my Romeo?”

Goodness can you imagine the cheesy teenage boys trying to hit on a Juliet? All the bad pick-up lines!!! “Will you be the sheath for my happy dagger?”

    Classic, beautiful, and underrated.

I am more likely to think of “Psych” than Romeo and Juliet…

@forgetaboutme:  I know a 15 year old named Juliette (I know, different spelling). She goes by “Jules.” I like the name, but I don’t LOVE it. Julie/Jules is a cute nickname. I don’t think she’d get made fun of THAT much- it’s a classic name.

@forgetaboutme:  When I see the spelling of Juliette,  I think of the story “Juliette” by Marquis de Sade.

As for Juliet (spelling for Shakespare’s Juliet)  I like it 🙂

Just like the song by Steely Dan or Emilie Autumn’s Juliet.

I like it, but I prefer Julia.
