My colors are bright red, yellow, and orange. My two BMs are petite and slim, but it's been hard finding something they both like. I don't know if this dress is tacky and I'm just loving it because it matches my colors or if it's a cute dress that they could wear again (to a cokctail party?). Please be honest...thanks!
It's a very cute dress, but the style is kind of trendy right now (short with bubble hem), so unless your girls have alot of weddings or fancy cocktail parties to attend this summer (after your wedding of course) they may not get much use out of it again.
By next season, the bubble hem trend may be long gone, and the dress may seem a bit dated. Then again, I don't keep up with the fashion trends all that well, so perhaps it may stick around for another season? I don't know if you can count on that though.
As an aside, I tried on a very similar dress at Le Chateau (obviously a knock off - heh) and the style made me look preggo, but I'm not petite by any means of the imagination, so it might work with your girls!
Having said all that, it would go very nicely with your colours, and if looks good on your BM's, and they seem hyped about it - I say why not!!
I love that you have yellow and orange in your colors - my mom thought I was crazy and that no one would accept any of my dress choices :D I think that the dress is super-cute but also worry that the bubble hem might prevent future wearability as echo says (as well as the empire waist). I would ask the BM's if they like it/would feel that it is flattering (generally you need to be kind of thin and on the taller side to look great and not just trendy in that style) and if they have enough occasions to wear it.
I love that dress! Very cute and would work well if your bridesmaids are petite. I really like your color choices too, it sounds like a beautiful sunset.
Thanks for your comments. We already bought the dresses...and they come up just above the knee on both girls (they are 5"1 and 5"2) so it's not super short on them. They are my closest friends and I want them to look great, but picking out a dress was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be...
They both sounded like they liked it, but now that the dresses are purchased I keep thinking in the back of my mind that (1) they just didn't want to hurt my feelings because I was so excited about the color and (2) they just wanted to have a dres picked already b/c we had been looking for months (and the wedding is in September).
I guess I was hoping we'd have "the dress" moment for them or at least find something they'd both love that wasn't too expensive...instead the whole experience was just kind of frustrating (so much back and forth and nothing they both loved or were willing to pay)...so I guess I feel like they both "settled" for a dress that I liked because of the color rather than a dress that they both loved...but they agreed that matching dresses would look better than if they just picked out their own dress to wear. I really hope I don't look back at my pictures and think that I made a huge mistake picking out a tacky dress for them to wear...
Since no one came out and said the dress is tacky/tasteless the I'll guess we'll keep it...
Oh my gosh...I saw that one in the mall last weekend. My exact comments were "ooooh, that's so pretty...like a sunset!" My guy also liked it, so I'm all for it.

posted by ist 3 posts 4 months agoThough, now that I think about it, it might be a little short. And in addition, bubble hems look slightly shorter than they usually are as well.
posted by ist 3 posts 4 months agoI love it, but I also think it would be a little short, at least for me anyways - do you think that your BM's would be comfortable in it though?

posted by doctorgirl 151 posts 4 months agoI love it :D it might not be so short on your BMs since the model is likely 5'9" and you say your BMs are petite.

posted by merlot 47 posts 4 months agoOh and if you don't choose it for your girls, I would buy it to wear to your rehearsal dinner!
posted by merlot 47 posts 4 months agoIt's cute, but it is very trendy. In 5, 10, or 20 years, looking at your wedding pictures, will you still think it was a good choice?
posted by marianneinvan 69 posts 4 months agoI love it!! I would wear it again for sure, the color is so pretty too!
