Aren't they emergency candles like for when you lose power? I have a dozen of them from the hardware store. Are you using them for your wedding? You should if you can get a good deal on them.
For what will you be using it? With what will it be displayed?
Absent other detail I would say that it is a perfectly nice candle, but nothing about it really jumps out at me.
Sorry, it ate the rest of the post and I had to redo it!
Yes, they are essentially emergency candles, or the kind of candles Catholics use for prayers in church.
@Amaryllis: Ha! I was thinking the OOP (original original post) was sort of out of character for you.
Honestly? I think the candles you found are a bit industrial looking and might not pair well with the milk glass. I'd hold out for the tealights and invest in the LED variety.
They remind me of those candles that have a picture of the Virgin Mary on them... because of that, I'd decorate them up somehow (but not sure how you could do that, since the top is what gives it away).
Check Dollar Tree online, to see if they have any other candles.
I too was worried about tea lights not lasting through the night (and mine didn't) - what I used for most of the table were bigger votive candles in glass containers instead of tea lights....
@teaadntoast: I'll assume that by "out of character" you mean "not wordy enough" lol.
@oracle: Yeah, so more like the third option for candle longevity...
Sorry, not a huge fan of them on their own. Can you post alittle more detail on what you are going to use with them?
You can definitely dress them up and no one will ever know. Tea lights never last long and no one is going to go around and replace them. Votives can burn funny and go out too. I think you should get one and play with it. Since I have some, I'll play myself to give you some ideas. What colors are in your wedding? Are these a true white or more ivory?
@tksjewelry: ... "I have 8-ft rectangular tables. I'll have a gray table runner with 5 votives, 5 assorted size/height milkglass vases with white flowers, and then... whatever larger size candles I get. If I get the filled candle, I'd probably leave some plain and put ribbon bows on some (black/white striped ribbon if I can find it!)"
@smyley: Thanks! They are kind of off-white looking, I guess. Even though my "official" color is white, I am not picky about it being true since my tablecloths are ivory and my dress is diamond white. You're inspiring me beyond ribbon. Thinking maybe adding vellum for a luminary effect?
@Amaryllis: Sorry, the last vase and the rest wasn't there when I read it, WB is jacking up again third thread today like that.
I think that they would be pretty with the milk glass and the ribbon around it. I just got some ribbon like that at Hobby Lobby for $4, would go perfect.
Ooh I saw those on the website but they do not ship to Canada grr lol can you buy them online, I think the first ones are more elegant but the large ones would look good as well :)
What about wrapping them with sheer fabric or lace? I think that the lace would add a really nice softness to the table. I also love the look of lace with milk glass! Good find!
You can decorate those candles with ribbon and flowers.. I saw this idea in the DIY section here http://diy.weddingbee.com/topic/jazzing-up-1-candles-what-do-you-think

@bells: Thanks! That's kind of what I was thinking with the ribbon, only tying it in a bow instead of flowers. It's great to see a visual.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions, ladies!
I LOVE the original ones (I immediately found them and sent a link to my mom!), but I think the other ones are cute too! We are planning on having candle centerpieces, and it's hard to find ones that are pretty and not obnoxious. What if you mixed the different shapes? The ones you bought and some taller/shorter/rounder/thinner ones?
I haven't pulled anything out yet, but these are some pretty ideas you might use to fix them up. If you walk around a craft store, something may jump out at you. Easy fixes are decals, ribbon, fabric, paper lace, vellum.I had these saved, so just pretend there's glass around them and it's just as easy to do.

The last one is at my daughter's shower where I bought clear dollar store vases and just twisted the ribbon and glued the ends in the back. Some I did with 3 rows and some were just single.
I definitely think vellum and/or vellum+ribbon/decoration is the way to go for these. Buy a few and play around with them - it's a great price for the holder + the wax!
Not the best look or very creative, as I used what I had laying around. Most of my candles have been used a long time, so the glass isn't very clear or is blackened. On 2 of them, I used paper lace just taped on (you could use real if you wanted), and the other I just used black and white thin ribbon around the top with a flat bow, held on with glue dots. Both took 2 minutes,so are an easy project.
The others have sequinned trim at the top, a plain wired black bow, and on the clear vase are raised swirls that come in a pack by Jolee. I didn't have any vellum, and the other paper I had was too thick to show any light coming through at all.
I'd just walk around a craft store and see what you can find. You can do a lot of things with those candles!
I would totally use them. Candle and holder for $1? No need to replenish as night goes on? SOLD! LOL
And the glass is plain, you can embellish any way you want. With the money you saved on the candles. :)
@smyley: Oh wow, you are awesome! I loooooooove the one with the paper lace on it to the far right and the tiny black bow at the top to the far left. That's it, I'm sold!
Why not use them? I would. I'd go and buy those gorgeous black felt sticky damask thingies you can get at craft stores and jazz them up like that. :)
Oh, good! I got the paper lace at AC Moore, but I'm not sure where you live or if you have that store. Michale's probably has the same thing. Ribbon is cheap and so easy.
Hope you post pictures when you get started. :)
I like the pillarish candles... and you can always wrap them in a cool semi-see through paper, like these vellum-wrapped:

I went to the Dollar Tree today searching for these:
My local store did not have any, but I found these:
They are 8 hour candles already in their holders. It would be super cheap since it's only $1.00 altogether. I like the varying heights of the tealights, but I don't want to worry about replenishing the tealights as they burn out throughout the night. But obviously, the filled candles are a little less sleek. I also considered buying hurricanse with a pillar or votive sitting atop black vase filler for the height, but that would be the most expensive option:
I have 8-ft rectangular tables. I'll have a gray table runner with 5 votives, 5 assorted size/height milkglass vases with white flowers, and then... whatever larger size candles I get. If I get the filled candle, I'd probably leave some plain and put ribbon bows on some (black/white striped ribbon if I can find it!)
What do you think?
