Hi Bees! I need something to cover my shoulders for our November wedding, at least when we are outdoors. I found this capelet on Etsy and I can choose different flowers to go with it. What do you think? Do you think I can pull it off with elbow length gloves too? I hate feeling cold! I’m not much for shawls, boleros, etc., but this one caught my eye. I’ve been thinking about it for a long time and have not shown anyone, until now 🙂
Here’s my dress:
And here is the capelet:

That is SO cute! What’s your theme…. looks very soft and romantic. I like! Idk about the gloves though… only b/c gloves tend to give a more formal look and I think they’d make the shawl look out of place.

i feel like crochet doesn’t go with your dress, sawwi… i can see it with like a tee and jeans, but not with a wedding dress like yours. 😡

awwww SOO cute! I would suggest a muff instead of gloves.

@elliestan: agree!! It looks a bit too laid-back for such a striking dress. I think you should keep looking, there’s got to be something better out there. Not that I don’t like this, I just don’t think it matches too great!

I love it! I am not a fan of the gloves idea though. How long will you be outdoors? I have heard several brides say that their dress is so heavy, they aren’t even cold when they go outside during their winter weddings.
Depending on how formal your wedding is, this is very cute and chic:

@elliestan: @Bostonsmom: Here is another item from the same seller (sorry, it’s the only best pic of two seller has on her site). Still think it clashes? I know her dress is not the same as mine, so not a direct comparison.
@runsyellowlites: Soft romance, yes that is what I am going for!
@Miss Seersucker: My dress is surprisingly light! But maybe it will keep me warm. I’m most worried about my shoulders and arms.

I think it will work great! minus the gloves. it really just depends on the look you’re going for 😉

@Elle_Neotoma: I like the second pic way more, from the first pic it looked like it would cover up alot of your dress! But I’m still not sold on it 100%, I like the way it looks with the lace dress because of the textures, still not sure how I think I will like it with your dress.

I don’t think the crochet style or look is right for your dress, and the first one doesn’t really look very well made. The neckline doesn’t line up at all…sorry.
Here are many more styles you may like better. Good luck!

I also don’t like the crochet with the style of your dress, I think it would look really awkward.
It’s a cute sweater, but like a PP said, better for tee shirt and jeans, not a wedding dress. And I think the second one looks ok because that dress is lace, so somehow the stitches of the jacket blend a little better because they are both “holey” for lack of a better word.
Have you thought about a fur/faux fur shrug? I think you could pull that off with gloves for a November wedding and look super chic!

I think it’s really romantic looking.

Very cute! But, I’m not sure it goes with your dress. I think the second picture looks better. It’s really what your style is, though.

@FutureMrsSitler: I have considered faux shrugs, but it’s not really my style.
Thank you Bees for all the different and honest opinions!
