I think the small round size of mason jar with a cloth top (maybe matching your colors) and a raffia tie is so cute!
I think that is a great favor... Nothing like homemade!
You can do something like this with the mason jars...
i think it's a great favor!
did you see this idea from martha stewart?

i love doctorgirl's suggestion. i think it would look great w/ unbleached cotton or gingham top - but it really depends on what the look of your wedding is.
I think it's a good idea! Everyone loves edible favors : )
There are all sorts of ways you can make mason jars cute. You can make labels for the lid and tie with a ribbon, or maybe take some coordinating fabric and cover the lid and add a little tag?
There are also really cute "quilted" jars that you might like, depending on the rest of the decor.
My daughter and her fi did homemade strawberry jam and they are also doing salsa favors for the RD..about 40 people (OTT and bridal party) Since they have a hollywood/movie/glam black and white and red wedding we were worried it would be too country. so, they painted the jar lds black, printed a monogram the size of the flat lid and glued on top...they put a black and white polka dot ribben round with a red bow and a silver star. They are adorable. I'll try to get a picture to post.
The jam/salsa idea is that love is sweet AND spicy!
I think it's a great idea! I went to a wedding a few years ago where they did this... small jars of homemade strawberry-rhubarb jam with a note that said "Thanks for jammin' with us!" It was really cute (and tasty!).
They packaged them in small hexagonal glass jars like this: http://www.allforyourwedding.com/categories_name-c-197_57_119/favor.jars.perfect.for.jams.honey.jelly.more.set.4.wedding-p-881/currency/USD
I love it! My MOH used hot fudge syrup as favors and they doubled as escort cards. I would recommend the same. Use the small jars. You could add the escort card part as a tag tied on, or as a sticker on top like my MOH did. I wish I had pictures of hers, they were wonderful!
You can never go wrong with edibles, especially homemade. Your guests would surely appreciate it. I would use regular canning jars. I like the fabric squares in the pictures above. Those definitely add a homemade feel to it, which there is nothing wrong with.
I think that is an awesome favor! I'd love it. and I think the packaging possibilities are endless! The pictures people have shown are great!
My old roommate did this for her wedding! As a bridesmaid, I helped her out in making the jelly. It was absolutely delicious and everyone loved it! She did the cloth over the lid with a ribbon in her colors and then put a little sticker on the top with their names and wedding date. The guests loved them!
I am glad everyone likes this idea. I do love the idea of the cloth and a ribbon tied around it or maybe a personalized label!
I'm doing the exact same thing!!! I had never seen anyone do it before, so I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks its a great idea! I'm having strawberry jam, blueberry jam, and cran-apple jelly :)
I'm doing the covers/ribbon in my colours and putting on a label that says "HOOT'S/Strawberry Jam/August 14, 2010"
I made cherry jam for my wedding favour and it was a HIT! I wrote "Spread the Love" on the label - corny but cute! So many of my guests have asked for the recipe.
I would love to get that as a favor! and I loved all the images the girls shared with you!
If you did jam, maybe you could include some kind of cracker to go with it? I know I'm ALWAYS hungry at around midnight after a wedding reception and if I'm at a hotel, I'm SOL and want a snack even more!
What do you guys think? This is just a practice to see if I liked the way it looked altogether. The final product will look neater!
this may be a little too country for what you're wanting but it may work for someone else :)
I like how they turned out! Not sure if will need seating cards/escort cards but if so you could always use a label on the top of them to have them do double duty. We did something similar and it worked out really well, even though I think the labels would look better on your jars since they are a tiny bit larger.

That's a really good idea, gg. I second that suggestion!
Looking at all of these jam containers is making me hungrier. Noooooo! lol
I saw these jars on MSW when I thought I would use them for cupcakes. I think u can get them at the container store. Good luck sounds like a good idea and a cool way to incorporate the fam.

My Fiance's dad makes homemade jelly. What do you think about this as a favor for our wedding?
Has anyone seen pictures of cute packaging for these? I need to get ideas if we are going to do this!
Thanks!
