The three main elements (games/vases/garland) seem too disjointed. I like the game related decor, and the book garland but they don’t jive together

To be honest, the submerged carnations creep me out a little! They make me think of fetuses in jars of formaldehyde or something. (No offense! I can’t help it, ahh!)

I’d like it a lot better if the garland on the end was similar colors or made of comic books or something more matchy. Or vice versa.

ETA: I LOVE the wedding comic vases idea!

If you are planning to DIY submerged centrepieces, that’s a lot of fussing around before the wedding.

I saved this thread under favourite creative centrepiece ideas. You could probably incorporate Perle beads with your favourite cartoon characters.

It gives it a 2D cartoon dimension. 🙂

@afineskyline: +1. I just think there’s too much going on, and would probably stick to the comic book or the D&D/dice theme, rather than both.

@HonoraryNerd:  Keep it simple. If you wanted to do a garland, make it in the dominant/complementary colours of your comics.

I searched for “cartoon themed wedding centrepieces” and “comic book centrepieces” on Google Images and found several neat ideas.

Maybe see if you can get a friend to help you do vintage-esque comics. I’m helping a bride on the Bee with hand-drawing cartoon-themed wedding invites (using nibs and India inks) when I’m more or less done my own invites.

If I were doing a cartoon-themed wedding, I’d probably try to buy flower lollipops in bulk — bonus: they double as favours and do kinda add a cartoonish edge to the centrepice. (It won’t be, however, “pretty” in the sense of being “bloggable” pictures since you’d probably be leaving the plastic wrappers on each lollipop — but if you mixed real flowers/baby’s breath/lavender in it, it should be fine.)

Check out Offbeat Bride for ideas too! I think there’s more cartoon-ish themed weddings on there than on the Bee. 🙂

    Oh, here’s more decor ideas:

I would probably use table runners in lieu of garlands. When you have cluttery cool details, it’s nice to have a background/foreground to make them stand out. (Pinks and blues would go really well on your table-scape) Or try blues and yellows together; then use the other two colours as “pop” colours.
