adorable!! may i make a suggestion though - make the picture smaller inside the circle so there's more of a frame around you (size it down like 30%). right now the eye is drawn to the center of the photo which is only trees!
I would have to agree with bearbride. The picture needs to be 1) smaller or 2) one where your standing closer together.
Very unique. Cute idea!
The idea is really cute - very 1920s playbill. I also think that you might need to pick another picture - one where you and FI are in the center of the frame, and maybe one where you are not so much in the shade - maybe just how this one scanned, but you look a little underexposed and slightly out of focus. Good picture of him though - and you both look like you are having fun!
Thanks for the input! I think we're going to get some 1920s costumery and take another photo.
Oh, that will be too much fun! Do you mind me asking what your venue is? I used to live right at the tip of Lake Merritt (in The Regillus). There are soooo many great 1920s style places in the neighborhood!
The reception will be at the Bancroft Hotel (not hugely 1920s although it was designed in 1928 : http://www.bancrofthotel.com/index.html)
The ceremony will be at the UC Berkeley Botancial Grove (no connection to a theme - we just like it: http://www.herecomestheguide.com/location/detail/uc-botanical-garden#)
We're in Oakland but the entire thing will take place in Berkeley. The 1920s theme just came up in our brainstorming, so if you all have any ideas, I'd welcome them!
I like it as well. Definitely more unique and a less cookie cutter route. Your guests will surely love the way it reflects your personality!
i like this! after incorporating these great suggestions, i think you'll come away with an Swell invite.

i love your invite! its so fun and original. =0) i wish there was a better picture though.....meaning you guys are all the way at the edge of the oval vs. in the center. that tree shouldn't be the center of attention, you guys should! lol.
Lani, you're right - keen must be worked in somehow. And the photo is just a placeholder - we're getting some old timey hats to wear in a new photo.
i would also go for a sepia photo instead of black and white - it would match the frame
The Bancroft looks great - very Craftsman style. I tried on the most fabulous Eden Bridals dress that I thought was very 1920s - Style 2259: http://www.edenbridals.com/2259-p-1176.html
When I lived in Oakland there were also lots of bands that played 1920s and 1930s style music - or if you're not getting a band it would still be fun to incorporate that style of music. Maybe you can learn to Charleston! And you could do decorations (table cards, etc) with old photos of local landmarks from that era.
I love it as well, but I agree that you should put the picture in sepia. And maybe add some noise and a little bit of film grain? Both can be done in photoshop if you have it.

My FI mocked this up last night. As you can tell, we're going the more informal/humorous route:
