I love the name Avery. It helps that his family is huge in the Tabasco world of a long time ago and Avery Island is where they make Tabasco and where we got engaged.
Anyway, our last name starts with an M and being big Aggies (whoop!), I thought it would be kind of cute to have a baby girl with initials ATM. I know most of you won't understand this but if any of you are or know Aggies, you will.
So I like the name.... drumroll.... Avery Tegan.
What do you think? Do you have any other T names you like? For reference, pretend our last name is Murky.
@SFreeman2187: I love each name! Together I'm not sure because they are both unisex names so it's just as likely to be used for a boy. Maybe try to find a "T" feminine name?
Not a fan of Tegan, as it sounds very American to me, but I'm sure it's fine if you're American. Avery sounds like a place you keep birds? But it isn't awful, and Ava is a beautiful nickname. Other T middle names I prefer are Tara, Tia, Tula and Tilly.
I'm not a fan of Tegan. I like the name Avery though.
I like Avery, not a fan of Tegan.
Other T names:
Tristan
Tabitha
Tara
Teresa
Taylor
Tatum
Thalia
I actually like it. But if your actually looking for othersuggestions what about taryn?
I don't like any of the other suggestions. Part of the reason is because I don't want it to have a Y or Y sound in it since her first and last will have the Y with Y sound.
Avery also makes me think of birds, or a dirty bird house, and I'm not personally a fan of either of those names. However they do follow the decreasing syllable rule so I think they sound pretty good together, despite my personal dislike of both names. (:
@Jade33: This sounds like something I would say. DH just asked what I was laughing about.
I like Theresa or Tara better, like the plantation from Gone With the Wind :)
I like it! I've always liked the name Tegan, it's Welsh and it means beautiful so I think it's a great name for a girl!
I like them! : ) I actually like Tegan better than Avery, personally, but it's still a nice name (and I totally understand wanting DD to have specific initials!). I would change the spelling of Tegan, though, to Teagan. But that's just me.
I looked it up - Tegan means beautiful and Teagan means little poet. Our kid's bound to be short so I think I should avoid "little" at all cost.
I really don't like either name. That being said, I thought Avery was a boy's name? I've never heard of it for a girl. Sorry, I know not much help. For a middle name what about Tamara, Tabitha, Talise, Tasha?
I love Avery and I love Tegan. We plan on naming our baby Ava if its a girl, so its similar and my neices name is Teegan :) super cute!
Oh hang on, I mis-read. I thought this was for a boy. Isn't Avery a boy's name? (Eg, in 'American Dad' Stan's boss is called Avery?). Ignore this if it's a common girls name in the US...
I like Avery (it's my Dad's name, and my sister is Ava), but I don't like Tegan. It just doesn't...look pretty? I don't know. Avery Tessa?
@Ivyperks: It's one of those "becoming gender neutral" names I think. :) My Dad is Avery, but I know lots of little Avery/Averie's that are girls now.
Not a fan of Tina. Love the name Avery, but I def agree with PP's that there should be something more feminine in the middle. What about Tina?
I love the name Avery... and I love Tegan, but I don't know if I like them together...
Just scrolling through some T names gave me Tova... it means good. On it's own I don't like it, but I kind of like Avery Tova Murky...
I like Avery but I don't like how Tegan sounds with Avery if that makes sense.
I actually like Tegan Avery more than Avery Tegan, but still both are beautiful names
I love Avery ! Tegan not so much, I feel like you go from a beautiful feminine old time name to an unfamiliar general neutral one. But I know that certain areas of the US have names that are very popular! At the end of the day, do what you guys love :)
I know a little girl names Tali, I think it's Hebrew. It could be a cute middle name. Avery Tali. But in the end I think you should go with your gut! Your name is cute!
Names that have meaning to the parents are always beautiful, and I think Tegan is a gorgeous middle name.
I agree with PP, both names are pretty, but I dont like them together that much. I do like Tegen Avery though, but I know you dont want that! Haha
How about
Tessa
Tanya
Tasha
Tavia
Trista
Tiana < Thats my favourite. I like how Avery Tiana sounds. But not my kid lol. If you want Teagen, then you name it. After a while, Avery Teagen will sound great, because it's your daughters name!
@SFreeman2187: i love the name avery for a girl. tegan is cute too. some of the "t" middle names mentioned sound good with it. the only other one that i can think of is Taryn. i'm sure you can spell it however you want.
I dislike Tegan because when I was at camp one year a girl named Tegan from the south was there and said "My name is Tegan, rhymes with Megan." but she said it like Taygan and that's pretty but in the north we say Megan with a short e sound, and Tegan with a short e is really ugly to me. That's why I voted hate it.
Avery is actually the name we are naming our daughter when she is born tomorrow (but spelled Aevry), so I love it! And the bird thing is aviary (a-vee-er-ee), different from Avery. I liked the name Tegan as well, but my husbad vetoed that one. Keep puting names together you'll find one you like. We just changed the middle name for ours 2 days ago because we liked how it sounded better with our last name,
I am so sorry you are an Aggie! If you need any help with that, just let me know. ;P I am married to a Longhorn and came from a family os Huskers so, I promise, there are other options! (J/K...)
I don't have any suggestiongs but I do think a softer name would work better as the middle name. Tessa, like somebody suggested would work. I just think Tegan is to hard sounding right after Avery (which is an adorable name!).
Also, being that uou are just big Aggie fans I thing ATM is cute.
I think, as PP have said, you could explore other middle names. Avery is cute, but Tegan doesn't sound like a particularly feminine name. If you're not wanting a feminine-sounding name, then it is fine!
Love Avery, but Tegan sounds "redneck" imho. I also think ATM as initals would be super cute. I won't hold it against you or anything (Go Dawgz!)
I like both of those names, but I don't know if I like them together. I don't like a whole lot of T names, but my favorite is Tallulah.
Avery Tallulah Murky :)
I know it's a bit of an "odd" name, but it's one of the only T names I am fond of.
I like Avery (like 30 Rock!!!) but I don't LOVE Tegan, but then again I've never heard of it before. I just had to google what an Aggie is (I'm from NY!). I just googled baby girl T names and here are a few I liked:
Talia
Tamsyn
Tapanga (Boy Meets World, anyone?!)
Taryn
Thora
Tiffany
Tina
Tori
Tessa
Tula
Trista
Like any of those?! :)
