I probably would not do a crossword or read a newspaper at someones reception.

– Mimosas (I know, it’s ‘food’)

– Robes, pajamas or funky slippers (if that inspires anything)

I’m not sure what you mean by coffee mugs?  And i wouldn’t do a crossword or read a newspaper at a wedding either.

love your idea! I’m just going to throw out what comes to mind:

  • casual elegance
  • light, but warm colors
  • jazz music
  • mellow vibe
  • good conversation
  • family style dining
  • al fresco

I could totally see incorporating a newspaper theme into your paper products (invites, menu cards, etc.), using oversized coffee mugs in your centerpieces, crossword puzzles in your table numbers, etc.

For some reason I think of outdoor games like badminton & croquet.

I know you said no food, but I also think of quiche. SO GOOD!

I think of being overwhelmed lol.  Brunch always bothers me – its like do I want breakfast or lunch – all of it looks good then I end up with this wierd plate of food and am scared my pasta is gonna touch my eggs benedict lol

@regit45:  I have a slight coffee addiction, so that would be a favor right up my alley. 🙂 You could also do tea-related things, like boxes of loose tea or tea bells for those who don’t like coffee.

I’m having a brunch reception as well. Instead of having a dance we’re having lawn games like boche ball and bean bag toss as well as cards and dominoes. The take home favor is going to be decks of cards (in our colors if I can get them).

This is our menu

-home made doughnuts

– fresh fruit display

– mondo salad, walnuts, feta cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers and balsamic vinaigrette dressing over mixed field greens

-pasta salad, bowtie pasta in a creamy dillsauce with sundried tomatoes, scallions, and toasted pine nuts

– bacon

– breakfast sausage

– french toast bake, tart green apples, dried cranberries and sliced white bread

– hash browns with goat cheese

– feta and veggie frittata

– ham and cheese frittata

– assorted quiches, Lorraine with spinach and swiss cheese, smoked ham and cheddar, and garden vegetable

– beef tips with mushroom burgundy sauce

-carved turkey

– fresh peel and eat shrimp display

– assorted breakfast breads, muffins

If you can have GIANT crossword puzzles (or word jumbles) that could be a quick and fun game for some people to play.

My mom had a brunch wedding when she married my father, and she had a piano player going the whole time as entertainment. Apparently people loved it!
