So this thought came from my previous thread :
Where someone asked how my tasting hour was different from a cocktail hour! It made me think just how everyone has differant thoughts/expectations from different parts of the wedding.
I’d like to hear everyone’s thoughts on exactly what they think when think of the following words [wedding wise]. I’ll start!
Wedding : The first thing that comes to mind is alters or chairs in a row, facing towards a couple exchanging rings, either with vows or phrases.
Ceremony : Pretty much the same thing as above.
Cocktail Hour : Cocktails & drinks. Appetizers, or small edibles or dessert. Mingling with friends/family/attendees. Music.
Reception : Dinner. Drinks. Dancing! Toasts. Garter & bouquet tosses. Night time.
Disclaimer : I understand that not everyone thinks of these things, most of these are just tradition in my family/area. Interested in what comes to mind from every woman in every walk of life!
Feel free to add other words to it as you go!

Wedding: Fun Saturday with friends and family (my own wedding will be a Friday, but ok…)
Ceremony: The part you sit through to get to the party! (I feel this way about my own ceremony! To me getting married can be done just as easily by signing a paper in front of a judge so the focus of the wedding to me is the celebration with family/friends after the legal stuff is done)
Cocktail Hour: Mingling, drinks, catching up with people before dinner
Reception: Drinks and dancing until you get kicked out!

Wedding: Gigantic poofy dress.
Ceremony: Always too long.
Cocktail Hour: Drinks and yummy food… but always too much of it!
Reception: Getting down with my bad self and then trying to sing karaoke!

- Wedding: August 2013 - Rosehill Community Center
Wedding : The whole event, from putting on a pretty white dress until the car pulls away from the reception venue
Ceremony : The potentially religious and legal aspect of the wedding, where the bride and groom announce their love in front of witnessess
Cocktail Hour : After the ceremony, time for guests to relax and enjoy some snacks and drinks, and the family and couple to take photos
Reception : The eating, speeches, and dancing part! The party! Starts out formal, gets less structured and more fun as it goes!

Hmm the only one I can add anything differently to:
Cocktail Hour: Having to stand up for a long period of time
(I’m not too good at unstructured mingling!)
