Here are my takes on it and I'd love to hear yours!  We're a little more than halfway thru the year but some of these are still going strong!

    1)candy buffets

    2)signature drinks

    3)photo booths

4)"quirky" weddings (like unusual or strange stuff at a wedding)

5)mermaid or trumpet silhouette in gowns and strapless gowns

I just wonder what the trend for 2010 will be and I'm on the outlook for a way to make it unique and mine all mine!  But it's fun isn't it?  Looking back and seeing what made us all smile in 09!~

    1) Bridesmaids NOT matching

    2) Cocktail Bridesmaid dresses

Ditto on all of those! We had a few lol.

Hmmmm i'm dying to know what is very 2010. Can't wait. I'm still getting bridal magazines

BTW, have pick up dresses died out yet? Wink These trends might still be around in 2010!

    1) colored shoes

    2) props in wedding day photos

And yeah...we'll be doing a bit of both.

    Ooooh yes pickup dresses!

I personally am SO glad that cocktail dresses for bm's has become the norm.  Dear gawd if you see my closet (did think it out a bit and gave some away to charity) you would have thought I was in a contest to see if I had more ugly bridesmaids dresses (ball gowns and floor lengths I'd never wear again) than Katherine Heigl in that movie!

I agree with your list! I'm also seeing more and more videos pop up with couples doing crazy dances down the aisle or at the reception. The gal I'm going to for my dress alterations told me yesterday that she's never seen so many brides doing colored shoes until this year too.

I second the hair flowers.  Also, my beloved Melissa Sweet Lia.  I love the dress so much but everyone and their sister has worn it.

I agree with everything that's been said so far, but I'll add a few more:

    - Reiterating hair flowers, and adding, going sans veil (what I'm doing)
    - Shorter wedding dresses (I'm doing tea-length after seeing it in so many weddings and must having it!)
    - Buffets other than candy: like whole dessert tables, popcorn/cookie bars.
    - All different BM dresses (like Mrs. Powder Puff!)

I think the big "overall wedding" trend as far as style of wedding in 2009 was the "backyard country" wedding with those apothecary beverage servers, backyard games, more casual foods, pies, etc. I LOVE those weddings everytime I see them.

Some of this is redundant, but:

    - black and white color schemes and damask and fluer de lis themes

    - dropping favors or doing charitable donations in lui of favors

    - cake replacements (like cupcakes or a dessert buffet)

    - parasols and baloons in photos

    - non-floral centerpieces (not really a 2009 trend)

    - ditching the matcy-matchy bridesmaid look

I'm so glad I got married this year, because I adore so many of these "trends"!!  What a great time to be a bride!!  So much better than the era of dresses with puffy shoulders and round cakes with 175 layers!!

I still think the "quirky" wedding trend was one I'm not terribly fond of honestly.  In some of the magazines (and blogs) i love jumped on this bandwagon.  While they made unique photo-ops, I am just not a fan of the wierd wedding stuff.

I do want to add another trend I like but won't do "Trash the Dress"!

I love the pics but just not sure if I'd do that to my gown or not.

Not part of the actual wedding but how about balloons in engagement photos.  I love all these trends btw, I'm keeping them around through 2010.

Haha the balloons in an engagement photo.  I personally cannot remember when I've carried a balloon.  maybe a bunch of balloons from the party city into the area where I had my son's birthday party last year but I do not personally go around kissing my guy whilst holding a balloon!

But it does look cute.  I'm also not a person who likes to kiss in pics either.

While picking out my dress a few weeks ago, I was speaking to the consultant about the latest dress trends.  Apprently, pick up skirts are slowly disappearing from the market and ruffles are hot.

Yay to coloured shoes...the weddings we've been to this year had the bride wearing white satin shoes.  Can't wait to give a blast of colour next year.

Oh I agree with all these! How about:

-Forgetting the norms... such as no "special" dances, no bouquet/garter toss...

-Pockt Fold invitations (are those a trend or will they be sticking around? I love them so I hope they are here to stay!)

-Boudoir photo session and giving it to your husband as a wedding present

The only I didn't see mentioned are adding feathers. Feathers on a fascinator or peacock feathers on invites and centerpieces. Oh, and chalk boards seem to be popular.

I do think most of the things posted are trends, but I wouldn't just limit them to 2009, some of them have been around for many years.  When I think of actual trends for wedding the first thing that comes to mind is hair feathers/flowers instead of a veil.

Boy, I think I was one big fat wedding trend!

Don't forget the iPod, though I think that's here to stay!  Herbs and other potted plants as centerpieces... I actually think we'll see the non-floral centerpiece trend get even bigger in the coming year!

I think even upscale weddings are going to have an increasing amount of DIY in the coming year.  Aren't weddings just so sweet with those personal touches?

BARNS! I love 'em. And non-traditioanl venues. Nobody wants that church hall anymore!

I'm the first and one of the only of my friends to find a unique venue..this trend hasn't caught on as well in St Louis

hopefully the recession will be over soon but being smart financially is always great when it comes to wedding planning!  I'm doing an intimate encore wedding and can't wait but it will be rather elegant but very small (less than 50).

Here's another trend.  The manzanita tree centerpiece with crystals on it.  Anybody member' that one?

    Bellenga-

I've seen you post several times about "quirky" or I believe I've seen you use "wierd (weird),"  weddings. As a hive hostess I think you should be a bit more sensitive to those who have a bit more of an eclectic taste.  And even though it may be a bit from the norm it should never be called weird. Embrace peoples individuality! What a boring world it would be if we all wanted the SAME wedding!

    2010 trends

Peacocks, fun colors, one shoulder dresses with floral appliques, weddings that express the couples' individuality (one of my faves). bird cage veils are here to stay. i think pocket folds have been around a while and will stay, candy buffets, dessert buffets, ipod as the deejay

DIY trends are the smartest thing EVER to me, not matter the budget there are always ways to cut costs and splurge on things that are important like christian louboutins (coughing that's not only ME right?) the gorgeous wedding gown, or the couture veil. or the reason I'll be DIY'g it, I want the best of the best and can't afford it unless I make it myself!! Lol!! smaller more intimate celebration of the couple.

    2009

DIY, simplicity, a slimmer silhouette dress, colored shoes (eeeee love this), candy buffet, dessert buffets, ipod as the deejay, smaller more intimate celebrations of the couple.

feathers, branches, birdcage veils, wedding websites, candy buffet, wrapped gowns... (not sure what it  is called but it reminds me of a mummy) but they are beautiful gowns are everywhere in modern bride and I just saw someone in one last week.

    ...not doing any of those

I'm on the brink of a photobooth and a magazine type program.

    Any predictions for 2010??

I never knew anything about weddings until I got engaged ... so I don't have any "past trends" to base this on ... but from what I've seen, blogging brides is a huge thing! There's TONS of brides who are blogging!!! I never blogged before getting engaged ... now I'm obsessed.

Hmm ... I do agree that couples are putting new "twists" on old wedding traditions to suit themselves ... umm the Groom being more involved? Mine is completely involved and some of the vendors have been like "Whoa. We're impressed!" Lol. =)

    I will be married October24th 2009 ...

I'm having signature drinks and my sister is wearing a custom cool dress I had made for her ... (shes my moh and only one standing with me)

I refuse to do a garter toss - not even wearing one ... (do people still wear those?) and no bouquet toss

Hmm, I hope the things I'm planning for my June 2010 wedding won't seem outdated! The "bandwagons" that I'm jump on are:

    - Hair flower (I've wanted this my whole life! I'm going to wear it for the reception)

    - DIY photobooth

    - Colored shoes (though I think I might change my mind about this)

    - Touches of rustic style (we are having it in my parents' backyard so it will have a southern charm feel, though our actual decor will be more classic)

    - Trumpet style wedding gown (I love mine! And it really does look timeless, though I know everyone says that)

But we AREN'T have mismatched bridesmaids' dresses, a candy buffet, a birdcage veil, or unique socks for the guys... so we aren't toooo trendy!
