What do you wish you registered for?

We have about 150 guests and I only registered for maybe 35 things. Unlike you, we have been living together for 2 years so we have everything. I do hope someone (or group) gets us the Dyson I want. If not, I’m getting it for myself after the wedding.

But… 500 things? That is insane. Just pick what you actually want and need, and if it runs it out runs out. A lot of people will probably give you cash anyway.

Pillows! I hate ours, I’ve been wanting to change ours for like ever. Hoping now I’ll get some in the sales.

Sorry to jump in late, but I have strong opinions on this lol – the 2.5 thing is insane. I did it by price/price point. I made it about $20/person worth of registry with a variety of price points. The registry was by far the most angsty part of getting married lol.

Also, there’s registry strategy. If you have 500 objects, the chances that the things you really want will be bought is not great. So put on things you WANT. Adjust as needed. When the time comes, you know of 150 more objects to pad the registry with. But no need to put 200 people worth of stuff on now when you have as many as 5 years before you get married. Stuff gets discontinued constantly anyway and it would be a real pain to keep all that up to date.

Just out curiousity, why are you guys registrying 5 years out? I can’t imagine keeping a registry up to date for 5 years. Yuck.

The registry people have a vested interest in getting you to add more things on your registry.  Prior poster is right, put things on in a variety of price points and what you actually really want.  I also tried to focus on things that we’d need or would be nice to have but that I was unlikely to want to purchase for ourselves (like wine glasses – we aren’t big wine drinkers but I think down the road it’ll be nice to have matching stuff in a large enough quantity for when we have guests.) You can always add things as you go along as stuff gets purchased.

@pastrygirl:  I don’t think her wedding is in 5 years, she has been saving stuff for that period of time.

Edited to add: If anything I wish we had added less to our registry and not more.  While we got most things off our registries, there are some things that were more in the “need to have” category that we didn’t get in favor or “nice to have” items.
