I am applying for a NYC fellowship program and I think I might just be looking for an excuse to procrastinate the essay writing. LOL. It is stated on the website that the application deadline is monday. Do you think that monday is the last day to submit it or does it have to be submitted before then? I just found out about this program and the application includes 4 long essays which I really don’t feel like writing right now. LOL

If the deadline is Monday, I would assume as long as it’s in by the end of the day it’s fine.
If those essays are going to play a big part in your application, isn’t it better to do them now and have the extra time to tweak? I have been to Q&A sessions for writing programs where I was told spelling/grammar errors are pretty much the first thing that gets an application tossed in the bin.

@juliasoko: Your packet has to be complete by the end of business Monday.

I work in higher ed. The last moment to apply is 11:59 PM on deadline night.
Writing essays at the eleventh hour is a horrible idea. Remember that the vast majority of applicants will be qualified. The essays are where they’ll see the distinction between one excellent applicant and another. Do not procrastinate on essays.

Oh, I didn’t mean that I won’t be doing them at all. I am planning to have a rough draft of all four of them by the end of the day. I was just wondering if I can put off my final revisions till tomorrow.

Thanks everyone. Now I can take my time with them.
