Anyone here have carpal tunnel? What does it feel like? Every once in a while my right wrist will have a dull throbbing pain, and if feels really internal, if that makes sense. Like it’s coming from the core of my wrist. It’s not bad enough to stop working, but it’s an unpleasant sensation. I type a lot and am an illustrator, so I’m a bit paranoid about Carpal tunnel.

@abirdword: it’s a progressive illness (or so I thought.)
I’m in the early stages of carpal tunnel. I actually wear wrist guards when I go to bed. if you’re having the throbbing, numbness or any pain in your wrists or arms i would advise seeing a doc.
they can recommend some easy exercises you can do or the handy dandy wrist guards.

For me, it started off as numbness in my wrists, hands, and fingers after I had been using the computer for a while. After some number of months, I began feeling pain instead of numbness. The pain would radiate up my whole arm and it would continue for the whole day. I told my primary care doc, who suggested that I see a neurologist. The neurologist did a physical exam, tested my nerves and muscles, and then recommended that I wear a wrist brace. The neurologist said I didn’t need to have any follow-up appointments unless the brace didn’t help. It took a couple of tries for me to find a wrist brace that works for me (the one that works best is, of course, the ugliest and most obvious one). I wear the brace every time I use the computer, and it almost always prevents discomfort, now that I’m used to wearing it. Using the computer keyboard and mouse is the only activity that causes pain for me, so I don’t wear the brace when I’m not on the computer.
I would recommend seeing a primary care doctor. S/he may recommend that you see a specialist. I would see a doctor even if you find that a brace helps you, since it’s important to know what the problem is.
