I’ve only heard of it in Texas. I think it is when you have too many people to be attendants-the other people are the house party. Might be wrong about that!

I’ve never seen one in action, but one of my friends was in a house party. From what I understand, it’s basically additional attendants that are not bridesmaids. They generally wear dresses of a certain color, but of their own choosing. They also traditionally sit in one of the first pews instead of stand.

Yes I have seen this and i think it is neat. I have usually heard them called honor attendants. At my friends wedding her honor attendants had green dresses and the bridesmaids had purple. The honor attendants walked in 1st and sat in the 2nd pew. However just be careful there is no one else they have to squeeze by to get in their seats! This did not look good having to see them crawl over their dates to sit down!

I don’t think the House Party would include the musicians if they’re hired professionals, only if they are also your friends.  I think it’s a great idea to list them in the program.

Being from Texas I had a House Party at my wedding.  My MOH and I jokingly refer to them as “The B Team”.  Like the BMs are “The A Team”.  It’s generally people who you want to recognize as important in your life, but they wouldn’t necessarily be BMs.  My 2 cousins did it for me.  We didn’t have ushers so they handed out programs and got people settled.  They were just generally helpful that day.

Oops, just saw your latest question.  I listed them as “House Party” in my program, but if you don’t think people would understand what that means in your area you could say “Honor Attendants”.  It just depends on what you like best I think.
