My sister says she can feel herself ovulate but she couldn’t really describe the experience. Can any of you? I have been on the pill for almost 15 years and am hoping to ovulate now that I’m off so I’m just wondering if I would be able to feel it.

I haven’t been on the pill for 10+ years so I don’t know if this will make a difference but I have recently started being able to feel myself ovulate – unfortunately. For me, it’s a lot like how they describe online that it’s like a cramp on one side of my lower abdomen. I tend to get pretty intense cramps during that time of the month so for me, the ovulation cramp is very similar. It lasts for about a day and it’s very clearly on one side. I use a phone app that charts and this matches up to the ovulation predictor very accurately.

Same for me. It’s a pinching-like cramp deep in my hip area, and lasts for a day or so. It’s always on one side or the other (though, I can’t recall if it alternates or not). Its called;
But not everyone gets it. Also, it can take place right before, during, or after Ovulation.

I can’t always “feel” it – sometimes I do have the cramp on one side. But I always know when it’s happening because (TMI) there is a lot of physical evidence (like…a panty liner is not optional). Also a major increase in sex drive.

For me, I get stabby kinds of pains, sort of beside my hip bone. If I stretch or move quickly I can really feel it. At least, I think it’s ovulation! It coincides with other indicators.

I feel the same as @Eglantine: I will have the cramps and my sex drive is also through the roof!

Its like gas or a pinch as someone described. They are almost like PMS cramps for me but come and go quickly.

OMG I get those pains on random days (or so I thought) and always wondered what they were! I just made the connection, I’m always ovulating when it happens! Now I understand lol thanks for making this thread!

I’ve been on the pill for over 10 years, too.
First time I felt ovulation pain I actually went to the doctor – on a Sunday – thinking it was my appendix or something! It actually *really* hurt. It lasted 1 or even 2-3 days for me, with one side being far more painful than the other.
“pinching-like cramp deep in my hip area” describes it very well, I think – very different from PMS for me.

@Ballet513: It feels like cramping at your side, like the ovary area sometimes it can feel like it is at your hip you may even feel mild cramping in your back

A few years ago when I was in high school, I had the following conversation with my mom –
Me: My hips hurt.
Mom: Maybe you’re ovulating.
I now equate the two whether they’re related or not – though someone else mentioned hip pain so maybe my mom was onto something 🙂
