I actually went to my first fitting last week and requested for this to be done. From what I understand, they're just attaching the cups to the inside of the dress, much like yours. They charged me $20.
Yes I would say that's pretty normal. They aren't going to actually open up the dress and attach them inside the layers. They just sew them right on the inside where you can see them.
Mine were put in "in"- opened up the dress and put them inside. I think it was around $25. Although the method you are describing sounds like it might almost offer a little more support- the cups are so buried in there I don't know how much they're doing!
@vilolete - That's a good point. I didn't think of it that way! It looks totally normal when I have the dress on. It just seems like a lot of money to pay for a few stitches and the cups.
It's a lot less expensive than buying a good strapless bra!

I had my second fitting with my alterations person and I was a little disturbed to find out that I paid $28 to have cups sewn in and to them that meant attaching the cups to the inside of the dress with a stitch on top and a stitch on the bottom. They didn't open up the bust of the dress and put them "in". Has anyone else had cups "sewn in"? What exactly did they do and how much did you pay?
