I was watching SYTTD recently and Randy asked "what type of bride do you want to be on your wedding day?" How would you answer that based on your dress?
Elegant and timeless...Vintage? Romantic? Fun, flirty, sexy, princess? What look are you going for? (Feel free to post pics!)
Classic, timeless, elegant. I was really looking for a classic style that would limit my thinking of "what in the world was I thinking??" in 10 or 20 years.

My dress matches my personality...elegant and classic with a modern twist and a splash of fun.

ddubz- you totally hit what you were going for! your wedding pics are beautiful!
em- your dress seems very fun and fashionable to me :)
@ddubzz - Love you gown!
Hopefully mine says I'm traditional with a little vintage flair - these photos are from my second fitting - the lace on the back of my dress still needs to be taken in!

I think my dress spoke volumes. It reeked of simple elegance and IMO, so appropriate for the setting (garden) and our circumstances (older and not our first wedding). But truth be told, I chose the dress to match my veiled Victorian tea hat and Victorian-inspired lace boots. I was extremely pleased with what I ended up with and I can honestly say I have never seen a bride with an outfit even remotely close to what I wore. But I have always marched to the beat of a different drummer and why would I be any different on my wedding day?
classic and safe ;)
I did not want to look back at my pics in 10-20-30 yrs and say oh my what a hideous dress!
I was watching this last night and thinking about the same thing! Justin Alexander 8465, you will (hopefully) say that I am: Quirky, Sophisticated, Vintage/Classic, Timeless, Elegant, Gorgeous, and Ready To Freakin' Dance with Joy.
Check it out! These are the first pro pics of a real wedding that I've ever seen of my dress. I can't wait!!!!
Classic (as in I want to still love it in 20 years!), simple, modern and a bit untraditional.
@October2010Bride: I adore the back! I was originally shopping for dresses with cap sleeves and keyhole backs because I love the look of a pretty lace on the back...
I wanted my dress to be elegant, yet also modern and unique. and COMFORTABLE!

I love this thread! Everyone looks so beautiful and *happy*.
I was looking for something that matched my style...which is sort of a cross between modern & vintage. I love fashion and think it is so fun and I didn't want to do something very traditional.
(After the ceremony, I removed the veil and added the black sash.)
Im loving all the responses!! There is so much variety! It seems like you all found the perfect dress to express your personalities!
Oh I love this thread. I was having a hard time deciding as well. I liked a lot of dresses but the big question was "What kind of bride am I?" Eventually I decided I am...
Romantic, sassy, vintage-inspired
Did I hit the mark?
Here are some pics from our wedding day.
This pic is from when I bought it and the sample was 2 sizes too small, so it looks slightly wonky here.
But!
I think my dress is very me... it is simple and unfussy and just a little bit glam with the bling :)
I wanted simple and beautiful. My fashion hero is Jackie Kennedy. I tried in vain for 3 months to find a close replica or even a sewing pattern that would let me even come close to her gown but I got nothing...
BUT I found one that is simple, classic and has some of the little embellishments that I loved about her gown. I can't wait to post the pictures!!
Two dresses, same idea for me :) Romantic and glamorous. Everyone thought I was going to go for a sexy, sultry look but I wanted to be a princess pride.
i wanted classy, elegant, and vintage and i think my dress did portrait those on my wedding day! a guy friend of mine told me after my wedding, without me asking him, that he thought my dress was "very pretty and classy"! BUT, he was the same guy who told me during wedding planning that he hates lace wedding gowns! ;)
i haven't received any professional photos, so i'm gonna have to post the same photos which i have posted many many times :P plus 1 photo guest took at the wedding.

@TingTing: That dress looks incredible on you! You have a great figure.
This is a fun thread. :)
Hmmmm... well, everyone agreed the dress was very "me," so what does that say... fun, lighthearted, whimsical... more traditional than modern...
I wanted an effortless, vintage, bohemian feel. I still love the dress, but sometimes I think it might be too classic...
@noodlesploosh - thanks! The back is what sold me on the gown!
@belgianbride - your gown is gorgeous. Is there even such a thing as "too" classic? I think you made a great choice!
Such beautiful dresses ladies! I'm going to have to stop posting my dress, lol. I wanted simple elegance with just a little bit of bling :-). I actually thought I wanted something with lace and/or chiffon, but ended up with something different!
@noodlesploosh I LOVE your dress!
I think I wanted a dress that had a simple elegance feel with a touch of vintage. I am not sure I pulled off the vintage feel
.
I wanted something flowy that showed my romantic side...but also anyone that knows me knows I like to show a little (classy cleavage) and my sexy side..hence the low cut!
He asked me the same question. I said elegant and unique.

I hope it fits the bill. :)
I wanted to look soft and romantic. I think I accomplished that!
I'm sorry, I feel like I have no good pictures uploaded of the front of the dress, so I'm posting the back.
