Hi Bees –
So in reading all the stuff about the royal wedding and Kate Middleton’s choice of dress/veil/etc, many dress pundants are saying that Kate’s dress says she is classy, refined, grounded, knows her own self, and in control of her life, etc. They say as a royal she will not let others oush her to be other than who she is today. This all comes from the observation that she wore the dress – the dress did not wear her.
Princess Diana’s dress, by comparison, is said to be more “child-like” – a fantasy of what being a princess is like. They say that with all the fuss, volume, and showiness it indicated that she was allowing “royalness” to take over who she is. The dress indicated that at the time of the wedding, she had no identity of her own and did what others expected of her.
So – this got me thinking – what does my dress say about me? What does your dress say about you?
Let’s have fun – post your wedding dress picture and tell us what YOU think your dress tells the world about you.
I’ll go first. I think my dress – as a second time bride later in life – says that I like taking some risks, doing the unexpected, but not straying too far from the norm. It says I respect tradition, but I am not a slave to tradition. I think a bit outside the box.
Now its your turn!

^^ I love your dress. Traditional silhouette with amazing, unique details! Not a slave to tradition indeed!

I’ll play…(grainy iPhone photos, sorry!)
I usually go with the unexpected. I picked a silhouette that most would say wouldn’t work for my frame, but I am getting it anyway because I get what I think is best for me. I’m modern, sassy, a little sweet, and I always long for romance. 🙂

@techie: YUP! Modern, sweet, and romantic. If that’s you, then you nailed the dress!

Ooo I love your dresses! They are so pretty…
I think my dress says I am fun (ruffles) and yet still traditional (lace) all mixed into one dress 😀

@HoneyBear: Wow, a perfect mix of traditional and fun! Perfect 🙂
@sonomagal: I do come off as sweet because I’m soft spoken too. 🙂 I can sugarcoat just about anything…something I learned living in the south!

Ooh, I’ll play! Pretty sure what my dress says is that I’m a simple, modern classic “no fuss” bride. I’m totally also “no fuss” in my relationships. 🙂

My dress says I’m “regal and badass” according to another bee 🙂
I like to think it says I’m romantic but sassy (seeing as how you can see my skin through that slit!!)

@pengoala: Modern and clean indeed…but the asymmetrical detail makes me think playful too. 🙂
@breezybri19: Badass indeed, hehe! I love that pose in your first photo.

@techie: Wait, i just noticed your dress has some kind of little secret sparkly material hidden in the folds of your skirt? I totally love that! That’s a really neat little detail that I hadn’t noticed before!!
and thanks, btw 🙂

Oooo what a great idea!
This dress is actually my reception gown as I wore a red Indian dress for the ceremony.
Gah! My comment about my dress didn’t get posted!!! Now I can’t be bothered to write as much as I did.
So to sum it up I think anyone who chooses lace is a romantic at heart. Its a classic look but the low cut back and the fitted bodice adds a little sexy to an otherwise conservative dress.
I think my dress says that I am a conservative dresser and person but who also likes to have some fun and may be a little bit naughty – also emphasized by my red shoes!

@breezybri19: Yep! Blush-colored sequins. 🙂

I tried to find a dress that fit my personality and this one nailed it… It’s my day and I want to be the center of attention =) I think it says I’m here to have fun tonight but I still get to be a princess! I wanted the fairytale 100% (the beading on the top sparkles like crazy!)
