It may be a website design issue, but we have just 4 links to different pages on our website right at the top of our landing page. “Gift Registry” is up there, an longer than everythign else, so it just seems to draw undue attention. Is there something else we can call it to sound less gift-grabby?
When I see “Gift Registry” in a small location with the rest of the web page links on someone else’s wedding site, it looks fine and understated enough. It just seems icky worded that way where it is on our page, and we can’t really move it.

Perhaps make a ‘FAQ’ page which gives details about the event you might not already have on your site. For example, mine has suggestions to bring a light jacket or a sweater since our ceremony is outside, we well as what time to arrive to the wedding, and so forth. You could put in a simple line that says ‘We are registered at x and y’.

Oooh that’s a great idea because we really do need a section like that too!

Or just call it “registry.”

- Wedding: March 2012 - Pelican Grand Beach Resort
I would simplify it to just ‘registry’

Ours is just called “registries”

Ours is “Gifting” (and on it we have a comment about everyone showing their support at our wedding was enough).
I’d just shorten it to Registry.

Given the sense of humor of most of our friends and family, ours will probably end up being “So you want to buy us crap…” or something like that.

@EffieTrinket: Lolol. “Investment” Now there’s a comment on the wedding industry!

@lazy: On the Knot, it just links as registries. Maybe change it to that? 🙂

I would just change it to “registries.” I wouldn’t hide it under a fancy name… no need to make things harder for your guests.

i don’t think it needs to be changed. it is customary to have registries. if someone doesn’t want to buy a gift, they don’t have to or they can give something else. but for those that do, this is the place when they can see what the couple wants.

Registry or gifting were great suggestions 🙂
