    I asked this question once before, a long time ago and it was a blast reading everyone's responses! And since we have so many new Hive Members now I thought it'd be fun to ask again:

    If anything was possible, what famous band or singer would you have play at your wedding?   Would your partner agree with this choice?  How do you think your guests would react?

    ~~~
    As for me, think I would either want Colbie Calliat or Jewel (or both!) for the first dance and cocktail hour.   And then a DJ for the dancing part of the evening  Smile
    Not sure what my other half would want because I don't have another half just yet! Wink
    I think my family and friends would LOVE it!
    ~~~

    How about you?

    I would love to have Alan Jackson sing at our wedding. We're dancing to one of his songs for our first dance and it would just make it that much more special.

    DMB!!

    Yes, my guy would say the same thing.  Most guests our age would be happy with the choice too.  Don't know how many people our parents' age would be into it though.  But our DJ will be playing a lot of it anyway... especially You & Me, I think that will be either our first or last dance of the wedding.

    Good thing Miss Buttons and I are getting married different days--because my answer is the oh-so-velvet voice of Michael Buble too!!

    I second Miss Buttons, Michael Buble! FI's sister works for his manager and I say all the time how awesome it would be if she could get us the hookup. She totally can't. =( Nice to dream though!

    The fee for a private performance is something insane.  I don't remember exactly, but it's upwards of $50,000.

    Jack Johnson.

    FI adores him.  Even if he could just sing ONE song it would make FI's life!

    I second Jack Johnson, that would be so nice, chill, and romantic.  Even the guys like him, can't go wrong with that one.

    I'm definitely with Miss Buttons! Michael Buble all the way! I don't think that would be Mr. Peng's choice... he'd probably choose Dave Matthews. We'd probably both pick The Dan Band if we had an entirely "young" crowd :)

    The Decemberists. I don't know how wedding-y I think they are, but it would be SO perfect!

    @ Joey- I think Spoon would also be near the top of my list!

    Stephin Merritt / The Magnetic Fields!  A lot of his stuff is really sad and depressing, but it reminds me of my partner and is romantic in a way that doesn't make me nauseous.

    I'm with you, Joey!  Although I think Britt Daniel is very very hot, so the hubz might get a bit jealous.  Instead, we'd have Band of Horses!!

    Possibly A.A. Bondy. I named my wedding blog after one of his songs.

    Or Wilco. Ahhh, Wilco.

    Or Mark Kozelek.

    About a year ago, I heard Michael Buble's private performance fee was only like $10K, but I'm sure its up there now. I would guess $50K at least, too.

    Love all the Indie rock suggestions here.  There's nothing like dancing to some Bluegrass though, and we looked into getting Old Crow Medicine Show because we have a personal link to them... They could provide a great deal for us, which was more than our entire wedding budget :D!

    Three choices:

    The B-52s of Love Shack fame.

    OR The Talking Heads.

    OR Marvin Gaye.

    Basically, I want to bring down the house!!!

    We'd definitely pick The Avett Brothers. There's actually a  youtube video of them performing at our venue way back before they were famous, and we were totally jealous.

    i would have loved it if jason mraz & colbie caillet did a duet esp. for our first dance (Lucky) and our wedding party dance.

    for our cocktail & dinner hours, i would've loved to have weezer there. mrcontrary would've probably liked to have the beastieboys...we're such nerds.
