If I visit my gym 120 times within a 365 period, I'll get $150 toward my next year's membership. (Through an incentive program offered by my health insurance.) I signed up in mid-March, and am plugging away, getting the required form signed with each visit.
Mr. Bruschetta's just encouraged me to reach a certain number on my tracking sheet by the wedding...and since I love a challenge, I'm going for it -- hopefully this extra push will help me get up in the morning for my daily gym session!
What fitness goal have you (or will you) set for yourself?
My fitness goal is to start working out 3 or 4 times a week before I go to to work in the morning. It's so easy to blow off going to the gym when you're exhausted after work! By the way, Miss B, that is an awesome incentive program that your employer is offering! It would definitely help me get to the gym!
I love that program, Miss B! Wish I had that one!
I'm trying to lose 15 pounds in 15 weeks...and I lost 2.3 pounds the first week! :)
I'd like to lose abotu 20 or so pounds and certianly "firm up" (I know you can't spot tone, but I'd like to look more firm).
Doing 6:30 am clinicals has turned my work out regimine into practically non existance, so I'm trying to work on that.
I have gained almost 20 pounds in the last 2.5 years since I met my FI. I would like to lose at least 10 of that before the wedding. We are starting off going to the gym together three times a week for the next month. FI is also trying to cook some heathier meals (he is totally the cook in our family! i just burn things!)
I just set a new food goal!
-no soda (except Fresca)
- no fried foods
- no sweets
- no white bread
-and I have to drink at least 5 glasses of water a day
I'm hoping this'll translate into a few pounds of weight loss........we'll see!
My goal is to work out 5 days a week from now until the wedding (and forever after?). I figure no excuses for not squeezing in a workout on the weekend, and I can find some time to do it 3 times during the week.
I used to be a workout fanatic and once I finished lawschool and started working, I started making excuses why I couldn't go. Too tired, hungry, busy, whatever. I am much happier and just FEEL better when I am working out frequently.
Last week I did Sunday, Mon, Thurs, Friday, Saturday. I worked out today so off to a good start for this week!
I really enjoy reading everyone's goals! I should really add a few more to my regimen.
Currently:
I got a little off track the last few weekends with friends in from out of town (beers) and fourth of july weekend (too much to eat).
I really need to start writing down everything again. I lost 10 lbs in a little over a month so now I am plataeuing. Any suggestions on other good habits I can add in?
Right now, my fitness goal is to lose the 10 (!) pounds I've gained since my wedding back in May. I guess I was so focused on the wedding that I kind of lost momentum afterwards! I'd like to be back to my pre-wedding weight by the end of the summer. If I can drop another 5 lbs, too, that would be great.
I would like to lose 20 lbs and firm up. Right now, I am making thr promise of the gym 4 days a week, hopefully will up that as the wedding comes closer.
My goal is to break 1:50 in a half marathon. I initially wanted to fun a full marathon, but I think I should stick to a half!
I'm to lose 15 pounds by October for my budoir pictures, and then keep it off until March for the wedding! I'm looking forward to (hopefully) having to get my dress taken in.
My goal is to maintain my same size (and my ample derrierre.) I have quite a JLo and love it! And so does my FI! So I want to stay in shape and continue visiting the gym like I do now. Basically, I don't want to slack off from my current routine. I do, however, want to eat more nutrient packed foods for things like energy, healthy skin, and a better digestive system. :)
My current routine is:
Gym at least 3 times a week and weekend run to the track, around 2x (which will increase) and back home.
At the gym I try to catch the Zumba and Kickboxing classes, but if I miss them I warm up with 15-20 minutes of cardio, and then alternate legs, abs, and arms weight lifting and physio ball exercise. Then I do some more cardio and foot work on the bosu ball to end with a short burst of cardio.
I need to stretch more, too.
My fitness goal is to channel my energy into buffing out for the next couple of days. If I lose even one more pound my dress won't stay up any more, so instead I'm going for the "pump up" until the wedding. More lifting, less cardio, healthy protein laden eating.
I'm already a size 0 and relatively toned, but I have to try to keep it looking that way through my first year of law school until the wedding. I will focus less on losing weight nad more on lifting heavy and building strength and muscle, so the numbers on the scale either stay the same or go up! My main goal is to start my marriage with a healthier diet and get my cholesterol under 200.
That's right, size 0, 23, female, with cholesterol well over 200. Just goes to show that healthiness has many (invisible) dimensions.
I'm running the boston marathon in April, 2 months before the wedding...hopefully I can just maintain my physique until June!
@runrgurl10--Congrats for qualifying for Boston! FH ran it last April and it was a blast to watch. Good luck!
I'm hoping to run a half-marathon in November. I've run a few 5Ks and one 10K, but I have a lot of training to do. I hope I can do it.
I've made a goal of losing 25 pounds before we leave for the cruise. So far i've just cut out drinking pop, i drink way more way, try not to eat too late (its hard for us because Mr. M doesn't get home from work until after 6:30 almost every night). I've also cut down on junk food. I haven't been hitting the gym or anything yet, because I keep saying to myself "You have a year and a 1/2" but I'm thinking i better start and make it easier to lose the 25 pounds. haha.
I need to cut out Coke and Mt. Dew. I also need to cut down on the carbs, but I'm Italian!
To finish my first triathlon in October! I'm psyched! Also to do a second half marathon this fall :).
I'll start training for my fifth marathon at the end of the month. My goal for this one is to be as consistent with my training as possible... now that my schedule is clear. I really want to see what this body can do when it's finely tuned! :o)
I used to work out 5x/week and be very toned/etc and now I won't lie...I go to the YMCA and am exhausted after an hour of cardio or 30 min of machines!
My work schedule makes it so I don't get home till 10:15 or so 3 days/week and the other days it is after 6 or 7 so I decided that I would make the effort to work out every other day with a work out of my choosing. I went to the YMCA two days this past week and the other two days I worked out at home using work out videos.
Mine is simple ... just want to be tone enough to wear my bikini on vacation
haha
I'm hoping to run a mile under ten minutes! I am one of those people who just hates exercising so much. I do it because I know I need to and I don't want to gain weight, but it does not come naturally to me at ALL. I can usually run a mile in 10:30-11:00, but I would feel so proud if I could even just clock in at 9:50!
I'd love to lose 15 lbs in a year. I think I can do it, but I really, really need to get over my aversion of the gym. And I need to start eating healthier. These aren't really wedding goals... they're just lifestyle goals in general. Less alcohol (empty calories), less bar food, less midnight snacking!
My goal weight is 143 - but unfortunately, being 5'8 that isnt too easy to come by - when I was at 150, I gained 5 pounds after finals - so I am hoping to reach 145 by the wedding - so 10 pounds. However, I recently lose 2 1/2 inches on my waist, 2 1/2 on my thighs and 1 inch on my arms :) but I didnt lose any weight - but I am happy with tat result b/c I am slimming up although the scale isnt.
On June 16 - I set a goal to workout 100 times before the wedding. I hit the 3 month last Friday and have worked out 15 times since then mid-June. I have to pick up my pace to make my goal but working out right now 4 times a week - but will make it to 6 times a week.
I also get free trainer sessions if I work 100 times before the new year, so that motivates me as well since I am hoping to run a half-marathon in January.
My goal is to lose 15 lbs. I recently had a body composition analysis and my fat % is on the higher end of normal so I've also like to get that down by a couple points. The gym stuff is going well, I only wish I can have better control over my food cravings ![]()
I guess right now my main goal is to work out atleast 5 days a week. I'm not sure about pounds I want to lose, but I do know I want to tone up. Right now I am just focusing on being in the best shape I can be by the time I get my boudoir pictures done/when my fiance gets home for his mid-tour leave.
So yeah basically just feeling the best I can about how I look before I prance around in underthings for a camera. ![]()
I like this thread!
Goals:
I wish we could keep an accountability thread going on here. I've seen them start so many times, but after 2-3 weeks they peter out. :(
My goal it to get back into shape and to tone up--not necessarily lose weight. I used to be a workout/nutrition fanatic, but it got hard to keep up with that going to school and working.
I am going to try to do three cardio sessions and two strength sessions a week. Also, I am going to learn new healthy recipes... I already eat pretty healthy but FH and I are trying to stick to whole grains and fresh foods.
I am also going to try to keep mixing up my routine so I don't get bored and stop working out again.
I agreed to do a triathalon next summer(August) with a few co-workers. My fiance and friends are very active so we normally ride bikes, play tennis, or ski when we hang out. Surrounding myself with co-workers who are active will keep me motivated all day long!
Also my FMIL just transferred me her gym membership, and BONUS- they gave me all the gyms, and all the classes for only $20! I was so happy, it;s regularly $40 and it's right on my way home!
My fitness goal is in two parts, and one part is already accomplished. I wanted to avoid back surgery and be healthy/lose weight that I put on because of my back injuries.
I played basketball from the time I was 6 until halfway through my freshman year of college. During one of our practices, during a sprinting & pushup drill, somehow I twisted strangely coming out of the pushup to jump into running. I ruptured 2 discs in my back, and seriously damaged the muscle/tendons/ligaments throughout my lower back, hip, and upper leg. This was in 2003. I was told that I was never going to be able to play basketball again, which was devastating, but also I was not going to be able to run, go up and down stairs, dance, wear heels, and stand up for more than 30 minutes at a time. They brought in a surgeon every week to talk to me, but all he wanted to do was 'exploratory surgery' on my back. No thanks. I stopped eating to stay thin, basically said f*ck them, and did whatever I wanted with the help of massive amounts of medication. This led to 3 years of a serious, and fairly hidden, drug addiction. In 2006, I got clean (that sounds so like, hardcore street of me. lol). I started eating again and then very quickly put on 60 lbs. From 2006 to the end of 2008, every doctor I went to told me that I would either need surgery to fix my back or that they could do nothing for me. I would have to go to the er at least once a month, because I would wake up and not be able to walk.
I got engaged to my wonderful and supportive fiance on 1/1/09. I decided that I was going to take control, fix my back, and not be ashamed of how I looked. In February, I hired a personal trainer who was also a physical therapist. He was confident that he could help me and even make my back strong enough so that I wouldn't need surgery. At that point in time, the farthest I could touch while standing when trying to get my toes was to my knees.
I no longer need surgery., and I have not been back to the er. I'm no longer in constant pain. I can not only touch my toes, but also easily put my knuckles on the ground. I can run. Today I did 72 pullups. It's really unbelievable. :) So one goal, check!
The other one I assume will continue to come. Only in the past month have I gotten the go-ahead to start more hard-core cardio (running, biking, swimming), so I can lose the rest of the weight. Right now, I'm doing 30-40 minute cardio workouts 6 days a week, and three of those six days have an hour of gym work/weights afterwards. I have 10 months until the wedding. I'm sure it will happen.
Sorry for the rambling post, but I just got really excited when I saw this on the board. :)
We joined a Community Supported Agriculture ("CSA") program this year. Basically, you pay the farmer one lump sum in the spring, and you get a share of the vegetables every week. Because those vegetables are just sitting in your refrigerator, you tend to build your meals around them, which means you eat more healthy foods.
Also, the pick-up point for our share is 8.5 miles from our house, and I bike there and back. What tends to happen is that because I'm in better shape from bicycling once a week, I start bicycling other days, too.
The last time I did this, I lost 25 lbs. So far this time, I've lost about 15, and there are two more months to go. The great part about it is that it involves absolutely no willpower, other than remembering to go get those vegetables once a week. (And I'm too cheap to waste any of them by not going!)
I want to lose 85 pounds. I've lost 45 thus far and if I could lose another 20 pounds by the wedding on November 7, I would be SO EXCITED! I'm also a realist - knowing I have three showers, 2 weddings and my bachelorette party between now and then so if I could lose 12 pounds and some inches, that would be awesome.
My goal is just to be light enough for my husband to carry me over the threshold. I would say maybe 30 pounds. We've been going to the gym together for 4 months now every other day. We had a trainer (it was free!) for six weeks and at the end he told me I hasn't really lost any weight but I'd lost several inches. I guess that's good. I just wish the weight would go down too.
Side note: one of my bridesmaids told me today that she's set a goal to lose 100 pounds by my wedding next November. Crazy right? I hope she can do it! She'll look hotter than me...haha!

I'd actually been working out with a personal trainer and losing weight for the last year before he proposed last month so I don't have that far to go. If I could just lose two more pounds I'd be under 120 which I haven't seen in three years. And I haven't actually stayed at since grad school. I typically go to the gym on the way to work but it's getting harder as school's starting up again.
My other goals are to eat less fast food and drink more water. I recently gave up caffeine when a girlfriend had to do it for her pregnancy. Maybe I should set one of those "# of times to the gym before the wedding" goals. Nine months is about 38 weeks, I guess 100 would be a bit too easy. Maybe 125?
At this point, I want to maintain my weight and shape, and continue building muscle. I'd really love to tone my thighs up over the next few months after the wedding.
@Miss Cake - I'd say if you're losing inches, that's awesome! Muscle is just so much more dense than fat, so you probably look absolutely fabulous even if the weight isn't coming down. If you aren't doing cardio yet, that could help you lose pounds as well.
My fitness goal is really just to tone up, and get into good running shape. I started running on the treadmill as opposed to the elliptical and I am so incapable! So I'm working on that for the time being.
