Hehe, I don't htink I really identify with any flowers, but I loooooove dahlias and ranunculus(es...ranunculi?)
and yes, we'll definitely be using both in the wedding.
Love roses. I have rose bushes everywhere. I line of nearly wild up front and a whole line along the back fence with about 4 that are still needing to be planted. I got it from my mother. Yes, roses will definitely be in the wedding flowers.
I also LOVE stargazers/oriental lilies. Pink is not in our wedding scheme and even though they have all white casablancas, I refrained from making that a wedding flower. I am not sure why but I never thought that would be included.
Right now I am trying to find an inexpensive greenish flower to use. Thinking I might go with yuko ono mums.
@bruschetta - LOVE ranunculus also! They remind me of certain roses too. I have tried growing them but never had any luck. I always kill them. ![]()
Lilies have always been my favorite, and I have callas in my bouquet. Too bad they're silk, as I love the way lilies smell!
LILACS! Smell of my childhood...riding my bike past our big lilac bush when I was young. We aren't having them since they have a ridiculously short bloom time. We probably will be using a lot of herbs and other greenery, but nothing real flowery probably. (Its not that I don't love flowers, its just I don't want to do cut flowers for cost and eco reasons and don't trust the potted plants to actually be in bloom at the time because I just have that kind of luck with flowering plants)
Orchids!!!! And Peonies!!! And Tulips but definitely orchids!
I love hydrangeas, especially blue ones. But I am not using them for the wedding.
I love gerbera's -all gorgeous and simple - like a giant daisy. We aren't using them in the wedding though. My fave of the moment though are irregular incurve chrysanthemums with the layers and layers of petals, they look like a nice big pom pom.
Irises. An iris only opens up it's petals over time and when it spread them, it's a truly beautiful sight. Or like Shrek says, I'm an onion. I've got layers.
I don't really "identify" with a flower, per se. I love love LOVE stargazer lillies (but won't be having them at my wedding), and I also like roses (we'll have two blue roses for the rose exchange). Most of our wedding flowers are going to be daisies (not gerberas, but plain white garden daisies).
When I saw white anemones (white flower with the black center) I fell in love. Modern, simple, but still delicate. I just love them and I rarely see them used so I'm excited to showcase a few!
red roses
except my motiff is fuschia; maybe I'll do red roses just my brideesmaid and MOH pink or fuschia roses so it matches
Magnolias.... I'm no where near a traditional southern girl but I still feel a connection to these flowers. I'm hoping to have them in my bridal bouqet and in center pieces.
I have always loved dark red roses and violets. I would say, though I have always loved dahlias, bc they are slightly quirky!
Right now, I am loving Arabian Night dahlias, chocolate cosmos, ans anemones.
I LOVE tulips, but we will not be using them in the wedding - out of season.
Funny story - when FH and I started dating he asked me what my favorite flower was, so I blurted out blue tulips. Do you know how hard it is to get blue tulips? This year for my b-day I got flowers delivered to work and they were blue tulips. I was REALLY impressed. As they opened though they had purple centers - still really pretty. When I mentioned them that night and how much I liked them, he made the comment" oh so they painted them? Good" What? Apparrently he made the flower girl paint each individual petal with blue paint because she couldn't get me blue ones.
Gardenias are my flower of choice and they will be my boquet, as well as my FWs boutinere (sp?). My Grandma had a huge gardenia bush outside of her house and when I smell them I always think of her.
I also like gerber daises, but they were in my bridesmaids boquet for my SIL and i don't want to copy her.
I loooove Roses. I think they're so beautiful. I also once read that they are thought to be the flower of Venus, goddess of love ... which I thought was really cool.
@<span style="font-size: x-small; color: #81a026;">kjpugs - I had never heard of/seen white anemones until your post and decided to google. Those are gorgeous!!! Thanks for sharing, I'd love to use those some how!
Lilacs. I love that they are classic, they smell great, and they are simple yet pretty. We've got a bush right out side our front window and in the spring, when we open the windows our whole living area smells like lilacs!
Peonies! They are lush, romantic, and so classic at the same time. In terms of scent, I have to go with gardenias and jasmine. They remind me of lazy summer days spent swimming and growing up in L.A. ... to be young again.

What type and color of flower do you most identify with, and why? Does it also happen to be your favorite flower? And are you using it in your wedding?
