No i'm not trying to start a wedding food hating board....but what's the one food item you really truly cannot stand in every sense of the word?

I really hate....BBQ. Hickory, mesquite bbq anything is not my friend. KC Masterpiece? No thank you! I also dislike comfort food like chicken and dumplings. I wasn't raised on any of it so when DH's family makes it, I have to eat everything else BUT the main course! This weekend I had jello, corn, and a few bites of pasta at our family Labor Day bbq while everyone else munched on ribs and bbq-basted cheeseburgers.

I'm a freak and here's my flag! Laughing

Aaah BBQ!  That's hilarious, I would die without BBQ.

I HATE onions.  Anything with onions, I have to either pick apart and get  them all off, or just not eat.  They make me gag.  Its tough sometimes, haha, LOTS of food has onions.  Gosh I can't even think about them.

And I don't like fried food.  Fried chicken, french fries, etc.  I don't eat it often, so whenever I do, it does a total number on my stomach.  Feels terrible.

Ugh I hate BBQ too... but I take it further. I hate anything sweet that (I think) shouldn't be sweet. What should be sweet? Breakfast (sometimes), fruit, dessert. That's it! I hate hate hate when meat is sweet. Honeybaked ham? no. BBQ chicken? no. orange chicken? hell no. I also hate fruit in salads, or fruity salad dressing.

Do you have any idea how many entrees/side dishes have sugar and/or fruit in them? It makes me a very picky eater and I drive my family nuts!

I don't like ham, mayonaise (for the most part--I'll eat it in crab cakes or coleslaw), bananas or pineapple.  I sure am not looking forward to Christmas Eve dinner with my ILs--they eat ham and potato salad!  I'm going to be starving!

hrm, i couldn't think of any food really, but then i saw Jessie516's post and I am with her in not being a mayo fan...but that's a condiment.  As far as foods...eh, I am not a fan of cooked carrots.

I absolutely can not stand Durian. If my FI's family has one, I can smell it as soon as I walk in the house and I walk right back out. Some people love it, but I think it smells exactly like rotten eggs!  FI has already been consoled that durian (or durian ice cream which he also loves) will NEVER be allowed in our house :)

Raw tomatoes.  It's a texture thing.  I can eat cooked tomatoes, roasted tomatoes, etc, just not fresh, raw tomatoes.

mien is more along a class - sweet stuff that shouldnt be sweet (like Corgi)  NO fruit in my salads, no fruit dressings (raspberry vinaigrette...ick) no sweet pasta sauce, BBQ sauce, any type of sauce.  Shudder

I also DESPISED pork until about a year ago.  Now I can eat it if, and only if, it is prepared a very certain way.  Ill eat extra crispy bacon (like, HARD crunchy) and dry rubbed ribs with so much seasoning you cant taste the meat, but NOTHING where you can taste the prok.

LOL you guys are cracking me up! I don't care for pork either...or chocolate very much, but I don't absolutely abhor either the way I do bbq sauces =]. DH likes RAW potatoes and I won't touch it, but I don't consider that *real food*...should I? LOL

@mechiebaby: I had durian for the first time a few years ago!  Man was it weird!  I didn't exactly "hate" it, but I thought it tasted something like onion custard.. blech

I hate when meat comes with too much grisle.  EECCHHH!! blech yuk, gross!  I have to always cut off ALL the fat when I get meat.  and the skin & fat off chicken.  UGGHhh it makes me sick thinking of it!  so chewy and tasteless. blech!

I hate peas. I will eat any other type of pea though--sugar snap peas, yum! But regular green peas--NOT OK. I do eat Le Seuer Peas... those taste delicious, not pea like.

I am THE pickiest eater so I will attempt to list mine:

I also don't like BBQ!!! Add to the list mayo, beans, any creamy dressing except honey mustard, red meat, any meat on the bone, mushrooms, cooked veggies, strawberries, any kind of potato salad/chicken salad etc, tuna, BELL PEPPERS (GAG), olives... oh I'm sure the list could go on and on and on.

As far as meats go, I just finally started eating meat in college. I now eat chicken, bacon, pepperoni, recently tried a meatball, and tried pulled pork this weekend (ok if I can get it in a non BBQ-y sauce) It takes me literally MONTHS to get into a new food.

I am a REALLY difficult person to eat with :)

I hate so many of the things mentioned, onions, BBQ sauce, mayo, peas, meat fat(eww!)...but I don't consider myself a picky eater.

I also hate hard candies with a soft center and boiled eggs. It has to be a texture thing because other forms of egg (except raw) and normal hard candies are fine by me.

Olives and mushrooms are weird to me.  I think it's a texture thing.  I'm a super-taster, so it makes me a slightly picky eater.  I do love lots of different foods, but if you are getting a pizza with  me, it's meat/cheese/certain veggies (like artichoke hearts).

Oooh, and celery is awful for me... so bitter!  I can taste the smallest amounts, and it ruins a dish for me!

omg i'm not alone with my dislike of bbq sauce....my DH's whole family thinks I'm nutty and basically not an American! ha! I like really really sweet bbq sauce tho--like mom's kind. Which is akin to TGI Friday's Jack Daniels Sauce. It's not really BBQ at that point tho. I totally refuse to eat at a place like Bandana's bbq tho.....even tho DH hates sushi and will eat chicken teriyaki at a japanese place for me, there is NOTHING i can eat at Bandanas.

Whoa, DG, supertaster? Do you have a cape? I've never heard of that before...how would you know if you are one? I, too, think celery can ruin a dish. It's like crunching on sand in a tuna salad or something! And it loves to hide out between my teeth

    What don't I hate...

Pretty much 90% of vegetables out there, you couldn't pay me to eat.

Any sort of melon. (I like Watermelon but if it's too cold it hurts my teeth and the texture freaks me out a little bit.)

Anything crunchy that's mixed in with something mushy. Like when Taco Bell messes up my order and puts onions in my bean burrito. It makes me sick.

Oh and I'm with Kelly on the whole fruit in salad thing. NO thank you. Yuck. Like one time I was so ready to chow down on this chicken salad sandwich....I open it up and there's grapes in it!!! WTF!! No I'm sorry...grapes, mayo and chicken should not go together. I was pretty pissed.

I have a problem understanding a hatred of celery when I could live on celery and peanut butter. So freakin good.

    Although....I don't like it cooked.

I hate mushrooms. It annoys the heck out of me that they're put in so many things. its a smell thing, a texture thing, its a mushroom thing.

Beans, it's not the taste, its how pastey-weird they feel on my tongue.

I don't like sprouts, cauliflower, not a fan of chilli or cucumber, don't really like nuts, skimmed milk.

I really don't like fish either. seafood is generally ok, but fish goes through me.

I'm sure there's more. i used to be a very picky eater, not so bad now. But if you look at it, what I've listed is pretty much anything that is going to be good for me. I find diets INCREDIBLY restricting. *sigh*

@thecolorteale, i hate peanut butter with a passion Tongue out. I feel like that labrador in the "got milk" commercial licking...and licking...and licking....=]. Celery is totally a once in a blue moon food for me. I always buy it with the intention of having a low calorie snack around but never eat more than one stalk.

I dislike Mayo on its own (it has to be mixed like in tuna or a sauce), curry, wasabi and horseradish in any form.

@Pelikila:  FI is the same way!  Your post made me last b/c he can't be around me when I eat them...

@ejs lol we have pretty much opposite tastes lol I love bbq and I loooove peanut butter. :) :)

Another thing I hate is taffy, toffee, and caramel.
But the caramel is a conditional thing since my absolute favorite candy bar is Twix. I just don't like caramel by it's self or in ice cream.

Oh and Cheesecake. Do not like it. yucky. I also don't like Pumpkin Pie. BUT! My mom makes this Pumpkin Pie Cheesecake that I loooove.

    Where's my freak flag? lol!

OOOOO sweet frosting. I HATE frosting. I insisted we get our cake from a european bakery b/c I can't *stand* that sugary crunchy frosting from traditional bakeries =]. Again, I am some weirdo because I don't like the St Louis Bakery, McArthurs. When is a cake worth that kind of money? Sorry, not when the bride cannot eat it.

I really hate desserts - especially sugary candy like skittles, starburst, etc. It is very rare that I enjoy any type of dessert like cake, cupcakes, brownies, cookies. It all leaves a very bad taste in my mouth and I feel so gross after eating it like I have a heavy lump in my stomach. I know I'm 'supposed' to like desserts because I'm a woman, but maybe that's why I'm thin!!

I hate being considered a picky eater and have worked really hard to cultivate a broad taste for things.  It's bad.  Like if someone puts celery in something, it literally becomes inedible to me.  I'm always stunned that people don't think that celery is the most bitter food on the planet!  It overpowers everything for me.  Green peppers are a little like that too.  I won't bore you with the full list, but suffice it to say that when I don't like something, I really can't stand having it in the dish at all!
