I have yet to find a foundation I like and that works for me.
I’ve tried bare minerals, regular brands like cover girl liquid foundation, physicians formula pressed powder and a few other brands here and there.
I have dry and prone-to-blemish skin, i.e., a lot of breakouts and problem spots. Especially on my lower cheeks and along my jawline.
What foundation have you used that worked for your skin??
I went to sephora not too long again and let them know what I was looking for, they tried every single foundation on me that they carried, and none worked for me. I’m thinking of going to Ulta sometime this week and possibly a department store like Nordstroms or Macys to go to their cosmetics center and ask the same thing.

Hmm that’s too bad because I am a huge fan of Bare Minerals foundation. I used to use Lancome and that was GREAT for coverage and was really natural looking.

I have been using MAC Studio Fix. I’m not sure if it’s actually good for people who have dry skin though.

Sounds like we have similar skin types.
I use PUR minerals.
For years and years I used a Clinique ‘soft matte’ liquid and it didn’t bother my skin.
I am curious to try the new VICHY foundtaion.

I have never been a foundation gal until recently – – I was looking into a Tinted moisturizer because I love the hydrating glow it gives. I also love that its consitency is lighter than a foundation. I now have a foundation, HAAHAAHAA
Too Faced makes this lovely product that is a ‘foundation’ but feels like a Tinted Moisturizer. I like that its clean I don’t have to use a sponge or my fingers. I simply ‘paint’ it on my face. Its great!
PS – – I went to Ulta and worked with a guy there…He is the one that turned me onto this fab product….YAY Ulta!

@whfields, bare minerals doesn’t work with reddish skin and blemishes. It just make my cheeks shiny and only last about 3 hours before wearing off, I didn’t like it at all. My boss said she uses Lancome as well and loves it.
@jackie-o, I hardly ever wear foundation either. I’m not a big make up person, eyeliner and mascara does it for me. But for the wedding and some nicer events I like to have it on hand.
@cvbee, yeah I’ve been wondering how soft matte works. Is it more cakey? Because there are a few cheaper brands at target that sell soft matte. I just feel so apprehensive buying foundation without being able to try it 😛

I use a tinted moisturizer – Laura Mercier. It came in a kit in Sephora with a primer and a eye concealer (the eye concealer is AMAZING). I don’t really like foundations, but I did like Bare Minerals when I first used it. Then it kinda got gross. lol

I am a big fan of lancome photo finish and estee lauder double wear especially the double wear if you want to put foundation on once and not have to touch it up. Now this foundation will not fix your skin problems but it will cover them up really well. Also because it is highly tinted a little will go a long way because it is an investment. But I love it when people complement my skin! Little do they know that beneath the foundation I have splotchy red spots and dark eye circles.

I also use PUR minerals. It was recommended to me by a worker at ULTA who saw me picking up Bare Minerals. He said “If you like bare minerals you will LOVE this”. I had been using bare minerals and like it but didn’t love it. I hated the mess and I hated the shinyness it gave you when you first put it on. I felt plastic. I also felt like it weared off too quickly even with an expensive Smashbox primer. The pur minerals seems to be the best of both worlds. Light mineral makeup that covers but with no mess. I am sold!

@ miss spunkin: I’m not sure how objective I would be about the cake-factor, but a girl I worked with thought that I didn’t wear any foundation (She told me one day when we went shopping together and I was buying it). However, more recently I noticed it ‘settling’ into my smile lines and I wasn’t very happy about that. Switched to PUR minerals and haven’t looked back.

- Wedding: May 2011 - Bartram's Garden
For every day, I wear Bare Escentuals. For special events or any time I need more coverage, I wear Make Up For Ever.

@jackieo…i wear that same two faced and i LOVE it. I bought it for my wedding day but have used it a couple times since, and I found it to be amazing! Do you wear a primer with it?

Oh I see! Well I recommend Lancome’s photofinish as well then – I used it for years in high school through early college when I went through a break out phase and it worked amazingly at covering all the redness. I combined it with their dual finish powder and most people had no idea that I wore foundation (they actually told me that!). I switched to BM because I just got tired of liquid foundation and Bare Minerals actually is much better for my skin. But I recommend Lancome for sure!

MUFE. I, too, had tried every makeup out there it seemed. My skin is dry and prone to redness. Plus, I’m very sensitive and a pinky-fair color that many foundations have trouble matching. I finally tried Make Up For Ever and I’m hooked. If I use it with the powder, it stays for hours. When I use the blueish primer underneath, my skin glows. (I’m currently out of the primer, and broke until after the wedding. Boo.) Plus, it doesn’t give me the reddish rash that all other makeup – Bare Minerals included – gives me.
No allergic reaction. No breakouts. A shade to match my skin and it covers well. I love it!

I definately recommend going to some of the counters of a department store like Macy*s. I love Clinque’s “Perfectly Real.” My skin has always been a little of a challenge and they worked with me until I found something I liked.
