I'm at a complete blank as to what to get my wonderful fh. He loves fishing, hunting, and drinking beer...has everything and anything you can imagine related to those three things, so I'm trying to come up with something and would love to hear what you ladies have gotten your fh or any suggestions!
I'm doing a boudoir photo shoot and giving FI an album on our wedding night. :)
You could give him a custom bottle opener or knife engraved with your monogram, wedding date, or a personal message. That would be something practical that would fit his personality.
I have a long time before my wedding, but I would like to buy my guy an antique radio or an antique guitar. He and I love antiquing and want to incorporate that into our wedding and he collects guitars and adores old radios.
Hope that helps, emg!
I'm leaning towards getting him sky diving lessons or whatever they call them. Maybe get it wherever we end up honeymooning...I'll give him a nice card and let him know in the card that he's finally going sky diving and I'll be waiting on the ground for him :)
I'm hesitant to get technology but I think that's what my fiance will like best. I'm leaning towards a kindle or a Canon Rebel xti. But the sky diving is pretty sweet too!
I haven't thought yet what I'm going to give my fiance as an 'official' wedding gift, but I do know of something that I'm getting him as a gift for the wedding. My fiance loves gummy bears, specifically a particular brand that he bought once when he was in Germany. And it just so happens that they sell them on Amazon, in five pound bags!
So I think I'm going to get him two or three of those bags of gummy bear candies. He's certainly going to love it :) By the time the wedding comes around I should have thought of something else to gift him too in addition to the gummies.
We aren't really doing gifts but I found this book called "you + me" in a stationary store. It has all these blanks where you fill in things about yourself and him and your relationship. Like "I love that you laugh at ___________", "You know it drives me crazy when you ____________" So it's sweet but not too sappy.
@azula Haribo gummy bears are the BEST! I was in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria over a year ago and ate them ALLLLLLLLL of the time. I recently found them at a local grocery store and stocked up on them.
Anyone else have anymore suggestions or gifts for their grooms?
We were pretty tapped out financially, so we decided not to give one another gifts for the wedding, other than our wedding bands.
If your fiance is into beer, would he be into brewing his own beer? I have a friend who does this and he has a lot of fun with it. I googled and found this kit (not too pricey)
http://www.coolstuffcheap.com/mr--beer-20028-premium-edition-home-microbrewery.html@ Jessie516 He already brews his own beer and actually, he makes lots of things home made and has just about anything you can think of. I know we don't want to do big gifts, but I'd like to give him a little something for the day.
I had another idea for you. Since he loves fishing, you could take him on a deep sea fishing trip or sport fishing trip (or arrange one for he and his friends if you're not into fishing).
my husband loves boxing so i gave him a glove signed by his favorite boxer. this was actually one of the splurges i made. =)
lol Pren, me too! I tried to buy him a baby grande piano and he almost had a heart attack. Anything I bought would basically be with mostly his money, so I give up.
I'm going the traditional route and getting him a watch. Dropped it off for engraving last night! Whatever direction you decide to go, check Overstock. I saved a ton on his gift and the bridesmaids' gifts there.
I'm having the same problem emg. We don't want to spend a lot on gifts, but we want to do it. He too is a hunter(both bow and rifle) and an avid beer drinker. He has everything he wants, as he has the habit of buying things as soon as he decides he wants it. So, my idea is to find a unique, old glass bottle/jar and have something nice engraved on it. He LOVES to gather and seperate and save his change. So I thought it'd be a great idea.
I'm getting my fiance a fishing rod and reel (HAHA), a more "traditional" gift- a watch, and I am thinking of doing some boudoir pics as well. I think that would be his favorite! =)
We're planting a tree at our new house together.
And boudoir photos as a surprise.
We're probably going to exchange cards prior to the ceremony, that's it!
I'm ordering a 6 pack of my FI's favorite beer (MOOSE DROOL LOL). He wanted to get it for the beer choice at our reception but it's too expensive, so I'm getting him a 6 pack. I'm going to ask our photog to tag along when it's delivered b/c I want to get a picture of him drinking beer with his Dad, and Grandpas. I think it'll be cute and totally a surprise.
I'm also thinking of getting him motorcycle riding lessons or a Calvin & Hobbes or The Far Side boxed set.
I got him a Movado watch and I'm having the back engraved with a special message. For someone who loves fishing you could make him a reservation for a cabin at a nearby fishing getaway?
I plan on doing a boudoir photoshoot and getting him Red Wings tickets! He actually requested the photoshoot, I use to model and my friend is a model and can get me in with a great photographer for free. So I feel guilty not buying anything so I'm gonna buy the tickets.
my fiance is a car fanatic....so i am going to surprise him with a Ferrari for a day!
I'm buying my FI the new nintendo dsi that he's been drooling over for months, my nerd is easy to please :]!
I'm doing a boudiour photo shoot also, but i'm going to do it myself!! I'm not sure what else to get him, he loves music so i may buy him this bamboo guitar that we saw on etsy...
I'm giving him a collectors edition of our fav geeky game: Catan. We used to play it online together all the time for "date nights" (we're a long distance couple) but the gaming website just retired it.
On our first weekend away together, we stopped at a gaming shop & saw this 3D Catan Chest & board... he swooned. I made a mental note: if we marry, buy it for him!
We're not spending a lot on gifts for each other, just something small and meaningful with some symbolism behind it. He looooooves hot chocolate, and early on we nearly broke up over an incident where his hot chocolate spilled all over my laptop and I screamed at him at Starbucks, and if there's one thing he hates, it is being yelled at in public, big mother issue. Anyway the laptop died and we decided that our relationship was more valuable than a laptop. So I got mugs that say "I love my husband" and "I love my wife", and I'm going to bring them with us on our honeymoon with some hot chocolate mix.
I was hoping to get some customized cufflinks for him so he could wear them that day. I was also considering since I am on a budget as a student & already making sacrifices for the ring that I would tell him after the ceremony that although I cant give him anything huge right now that I would give him something when we moved into a house (we are in a condo right now) I would explain to him how much I know he wished his grandma was at the wedding to witness it (she passed away two years ago & she practically raised him) but that I would make sure she would continue to shine in our lives by getting all the furniture ( which is all over the house) refinished for us that was hers - so we can continue to enjoy it & continue to have her spirit with us.
It's not much but I think sentimentally he would appreciate it - especially since its like 5 huge pieces of furniture which he truly adores & always says he wants to keep and get re-finished when we get our house.
We put some of our joint funds toward getting massages and body wraps the morning after the wedding.
I am getting him a signet ring for his right hand-it is very simple-gold with a brushed top with the first initial of his last name. I was going to get him a watch, but he has three and he hardly ever wears those. I think he will be surprised and love it!
I really would love to get him a set of golf clubs - but he's 6'5 and a leftie, so I dont know how much personalizing he'll need! My thought was to have them shipped to our honeymoon in Hawaii and surprise him with a round of golf...and then present him with the clubs! (Of course, we'll see what this wonderful idea will cost...)
When I was thinking of a wedding gift for my FI I wanted to get him something that would last him "forever". So I got him an exceptionally good watch, that he adored when he first saw it. I didn't want to get him something traditional that would last a couple years, or he would get bored with. I know he will be wearing this watch through the years, with our children... and he'll always remember his wife gave it to him.
I described a favorite memory of my fiance's to Etsy Alchemy and an artist is doing a watercolor of it. She just sent me the almost-completed work, its gorgeous!
I think we're skipping the gifts. Lame I know, but I think we'll be okay! ;)
I bought Mr Paris a beautiful watch for our engagement when the company I work for offered a very deep discount (thank you crappy economy!). So for a wedding present I am thinking cheap and sentimental. My current hope is to track down an original invitation or flyer from the breakdancing battle where we met in 2002 that I would like to have framed. If that doesn't work out I'll have to come up with something else...
I think I am going to splurge and get him the classic Fender Telecaster that he has always wanted!!
I'm getting the FI a humidor with cigars. I'm not big on his passion, but smoking an occassional cigar while out with friends is his vice and I love him! His vice could be worse! He's been wanting a humidor forever and I think it'll be a big surprise that I got him one. It has a nameplate on top that I will have engraved...still determining what to engrave though :)
