Yeah, sounds like she hasn’t done a damn thing.  She would have pinned the bustle while you were in it at the first fitting, right?  Something as simple as a hem and a bustle should be able to be done in one go.

Hm. It sounds like she doesn’t have anything done. I can only speak of my experience of ‘what happens’ at the second fitting. I had my first fitting last week and the seamstress pinned the  bustle and hem, and my second fitting is this Thursday where she’ll be letting out the sides an inch so I can breathe lol. But it really does sound like from the first fitting nothing was done. :/ Sorry love.

JazzyGirl85:  Ok, so, if they are a busy shop, they may only pin half the bustle to save time.  Then they match the other side later.  Maybe they want to check to make sure the other side looks good before doing the work.  But honestly, it’s not worth making you come back again to check the other side.  They should just do it!!  They’re basically wasting your time so they didn’t have to waste theirs.  But that’s just how some alterations places do business.

It does sound like they’ll just have it all pinned to show you what it will look like. I guess then they’d get your approval on it and then actually start doing the work.

For me, at my first fitting they pinned the hem, placed cups in my dress and took it in an inch on either side of my stomach. When I came back for my second fitting that work was done and then they pinned the bustle and took the dress in an inch each side around my rib cage. I then went in for a third fitting to make sure it all turned out well, which it did! Since no friends or family were able to come to my third fitting, I have one final fitting where they will basically teach my mother and MOH how to do the bustle.

Yeah that seems strange.

My second fitting is friday and at the first appt she pinned the bust that needed fixed and taking off an inch on each side and bustle which will all be done on Friday for my second appt. I shouldn’t need anymore fittings after this.

The same thing just happened to me. I just had my second dress fitting this past Saturday and it had me a little confused because on the first fitting, she had pinned it to hem it up and the bustle but when I got there, she had only done the hemming part. I guess maybe she wanted to get the bustle perfectly measured after the dress was hemmed up? That’s just my guess lol
