I’m pretty early on but so far it’s been smooth sailing! I’m sure it won’t be like this the entire time so I would love to hear from those who are farther along than I am. So far we’ve picked a venue and photographer and are sending out STD’s tomorrow.
So…what snags have you hit so far in your planning? What has been the hardest part of planning so far? If you could do it all over again, would you do anything differently?

By far, the guest list. Both sides wanting more, more, more…

Budget- There’s so much I want to do which has come in over budget, so I’ve had to eliminate things.
Guest list is pretty tough to. It goes hand in hand with budget.

I’m going to have to say the guest list, too. We are getting married in a rather small venue, and we are having a really hard time getting our guest list down to a number that will fit. I definitely should have followed the rule of make your guest list before you choose a venue, but we fell in love with this place. Our families have actually been really great though. We are paying for the majority ourselves, and our parents have only added a small number to our list, most of which are people we would have wanted to invite anyway.

The guest list (still working on it).
Choosing my bridesmaids dress color.
If I could go back and do things differently, I would hire my wedding planner as soon as I started planning the wedding. I think we would’ve probably ended up with a different venue. I’m still satisfied with the venue we chose, it’s a safe choice, but I have a feeling that with the wedding planner’s knowledge and experience, we probably would’ve found a better deal. I started planning the wedding last year in the spring, and we hired a planner in November.

Finding an officiant. Ugh.

@Mrslawyer2bee: Only snag was the guestlist which is now sorted out. Still have 9 months to go though, anything could happen.

Cutting the guest list to fit our venue and desire for an intimate wedding
We had to up the budget to fit our vision of what we wanted
moving the date, twice
but mostly smooth sailing

Choosing a bridesmaid dress. I picked my dress with no problems, but can’t decide on a dress for my girls.

Probably the biggest thing so far has been just the logistics of it all, we are basically creating a venue from scratch so just trying to make sure we have what we need has been the biggest struggle…
Other than that… finding our first dance song. lol

guest list: me, my mom, Future Mother-In-Law and fiance(almost) all ended up in tears!
bridesmaid dresses: we went to 4 stores. I wanted short, non-bridesmaid looking dresses, in champagne-who knew it would be so hard!

@random7890: I had to exact same problem – I picked my drses in one day but it took me months to finalize the bridesmaid dresses – it was because I was trying to make 4 people happy, instead of just me.
