Sadly, very few weddings I’ve been to have even offered a veg. entree. I usually have to very sweetly ask the servers for a double helping of the veg. side and potatoes (hold the gravy) and make do.
The best-case scenario is usually a buffet. Often there are still no veg. entrees, but you can at least make up the difference for yourself with the salads and sides.
We will be offering a vegetable lasagna as our veg. option.
Mushroom ravioli! I was in heaven.
We are doing buffet-style cajun food. I’m not a vegetarian but the vegetarian option is my absolutely favorite thing on their menu! It’s called the B&B-it’s a mix of corn, black beans, and some red peppers in some kind of really good sauce served over rice. I think it’s important to offer at least one vegetarian option on the menu.
I had am amazing mushroom ravioli at a coworker’s 20 year vow renewel reception, but so many people don’t like mushrooms that I would be hesitant to serve it. I loved the vegetarian (vegan, actually) meal at my own wedding, and it’s what I ate. We served grilled veggies over calypso rice. There’s a portobella mushroom cap hidden under there somewhere.
Oh man, at my sister’s wedding, she had this AMAZING vegetarian lasagna, with zucchini and a mix of alfredo and marinara sauce. Swoon.
My husband is vegetarian so he had final say on our vegetarian options at the wedding. We had grilled vegetables and a penne pasta with spicy marinara sauce, as well as a pasta salad with a pesto sauce.
I have to say, the worst experience was when we showed up at a friend’s wedding, and everyone was served a plated dinner of chicken with a caesar salad. No other options whatsoever. We asked about a veg. option and were told the bride and groom declined to provide one. I felt so bad for my husband, we left immediately after dinner because he was starving and highly annoyed.
A sweet potato and cranberry rissoto was by far my favorite. I also loved a giant pepper stuffed with a whole bunch of fresh veggies, quinoa, and beans.
We had a vegetarian stuffed pepper. I heard great things about it!
Yum! The picture of the veggies and rice looks so good.
I had a nice roasted veggie pastry thing once…all the veggies were in a pastry pouch with a lattice design on top. Pretty good.
I had eggplant at my brother’s wedding. Mmmm so good!
A goat’s cheese tartlet with onion marmalade. A little bit retro, but absolutely lush! Oh – a great soup always goes down a treat as well!
Butternut squash ravioli with brown butter sage and walnuts…it was soooo yummy! I’ve ordered that at restaurants because I remember it being so good at that wedding 🙂 I also had some kind of mushroom risotto from a buffet that was really good.
I want to do a mushroom ravioli at my wedding. I friggen love mushrooms, and nowadays I prefer to eat veg, however I am just now hearing about so many people not liking mushrooms.
Goat cheese panna cotta with beet reduction ^_^
