Proactiv is good. Roaccutane works (strong retin antibiotic) until you go off it. I am currently on YAZ (contraceptive pill) and got my first pimple in about 10 months just the other day. That works, trust me, I have always had pimples (and I’m 30!)

I actually found my Clarisonic to be the best for preventing breakouts and improving my skin tone.

My skin is breakout prone and really sensitive so I hate using harsh products. I use it with a gentle, non-foaming cleanser (usually one by Alpha H or Dermalogica).

The other thing that works miracles is Alpha H Liquid Gold. Google the reviews. I think it’s an Aussie company, but you can probably get it online? I don’t use it anymore coz it’s too exfoliating with my Clarisonic but I swore by it for years!!

pink.lemonade:  Like you, I have sensitive skin and love Liquid Gold, and think it’s been on of the most important factors in my skin improving over the past year or two. I haven’t used it as religiously recently, as I’ve changed to using other chemical exfoliants (like exfoliating acid toners), which might even work a little better now that I mainly need to maintain the results that I got from Liquid Gold.

It’s almost definitely because you came off the pill.  Same thing happened to me so I went back onto it. I don’t plan to come off it again until I’m trying to conceive!  Sorry I don’t have better advice!  Good luck! In my opinion it doesn’t look too terrible!  But it always look worse ourselves so I know that’s not enough.

Faith123:  the only thing that has worked for my moderate acne and oily skin so far is Panoxyl you go to walgreens and buy it for 10bucks but you have to be patient with it it takes a good month to reallly see results that being said i also had severe back acne and i got the stronger version of it for my back im totaly acne free now a zit here and there but ususlly around that time of the month. My dermatologist told me about it because they used to prescribe it but now its over the counter. I tried all things possible proactive, murad, facials, lasers, antibiotics and bcps but nothing worked so dont spend your money on that shit id be rich if i saved it all and had something that worked as good to start with.

Its honestly not that bad…I had a terrible bout of breakouts on my left cheek. I went from wearing no makeup to foundation and concealer everyday. My skin is oily and sensitive…it took a while to figure out what works but I found it best to wash my face with aveeno cleanser from the radiant line…I also use neutrogenas benzyl peroxide mask once a week and lastly, I use coconut oil on a regular to wash my make up off! Its actually helped keep my skin soft and faded my scars. Give it a go…hope it helps!

the only thing that really got my acne under control was prescription meds, but my skin was much worse than yours. i’ve had acne since i was 11, so i’ve been on various medications, but the most recent were clindamycin (to treat/prevent breakouts) and panoxyl (to fade the browns marks). i know you can get the panoxyl facewash over the counter, but not sure about the topical cream (which is what i used). last time i checked, i still needed a prescription, but that’s been a few years, so it may be available over the counter now.

Cliniques acne solutions line seriously worked like magic on my skin. It wasnt super expensive, like $40, and you can get it at department stores. Good luck, but your skin really doesn’t look bad 🙂

Kefir! It’s been the only thing that has shown a clear difference overnight. And it leaves my skin so soft. 🙂 I knew drinking it was good for you, so one day I figured why not put it on my face too haha, and it really did help! I googled it and apparently it has somehing to do with balancing the bacteria on your face, bringing back the good bacteria instead of just killing everything.

I don’t really know, I’m not a dermatologist, but I have seen results and it’s completely natural and healthy, so why not? 🙂

Faith123:  I struggled with acne and found that less is more- I rarely get zits now ( am on BC) but i will get a few here and there and its usually on my period.

I use an ayurvedic soap ( its like 1 dollar at the grocery store), a vitamin c serum at night and then an organic moisturizer

I found over the years that using producs heavy in chemicals only made my skin more irritated and more prone to breakouts! also- DO NOT EXFOLIATE!

Boxerlover24:  I both agree and disagree with you regarding exfoliation. If I don’t exfoliate at all, I’m much more prone to clogged pores and breakouts than if I do. That said, I don’t use scrubby, physical exfoliators much, and definitely not when I’ve got an active breakout.
