@Laurenplusalex:  Service charges for linens. I had one company quote me about half what other companies were charging and I was about to e-mail her to get the info to send a deposit but then I looked at the itemized quote. The LINENS would cost about $500 (YAY! because other companies were $700-$800) but the SERVICE CHARGE was $200! That service charge made it as much as it was with other companies.

@Laurenplusalex:  We’re just going to buy our own linens and install them ourselves. Then we will re-sell them after the wedding.

@Laurenplusalex:  Our venue only has white linens and we want black, so we’re kinda screwed lol

Not sure how this works out in other states, but in NC you have to pay sales tax on photography services.  Totally was not thinking about that until I started contacting photographers for price quotes.  For us, that’s going to be about $200 that we hadn’t factored in previously.  I was expecting sales tax for catering and alcohol, but not really the photographer.

I was going to mention that the cost of flowers, dress alterations, and veils seems to stun many brides.  “Hidden” fees — such as the 18-20 percent service charge for catering, the 20 percent tip for the limo driver, and the cost to purchase the print rights to wedding images — sometimes surprise people.  Also, some brides do not consider the cost of postage and return postage when budgeting for their invitations.

I forgot to add stamps to my budget. And thank you notes. I mean, I knew I had to buy them, but these little things add up fast when letters cost almost 50 cents each to mail!

Oh, and photo printing. Ugh.

The misc costs for small items and last minute “Oh shoot… I forgot” items. We had about $1000 for the misc costs and spent every bit of it and had to spend a little more the days leading up to the wedding out of our honeymoon fund.

Not sure if this is true (since I have outdated info), but apparently our venue might charge $50 for use of a microphone? Ughhhh.
