So there is so much info about pregnancy, but there are still a few things I didn’t expect…
- that my belly would be so oddly shaped this early in pregnancy. My belly button is off center by about 1-1.5 inches.
- That my boobs would grow SO much. I knew they’d get bigger, but 2+cup sizes this early in pregnancy was also suprising.
- To have no interest in sex. My poor hubby – gigantic boobs and no sex drive?
- That the linea nigra would be so uneven and zigzagged. It’s really weird.
What was unexpected for you?
 i’m 27 weeks.

How far along are you? I am only 10 weeks 2 days, and I haven’t had any of the issues you have except for the low sex drive. That really caught me by surprise too! Plus I have had miscarriages in the past and have been very nervous about the pregnancy, so I was so scared to have sex. I’m getting over it now and I’m starting to want sex again, thank goodness! I really didn’t know that orgasms would HURT! It’s so weird and now I try to avoid them believe it or not. I was surprised by the ANGER and constant PMS feeling. I don’t know how Darling Husband has put up with me! I have been evil for real. I am starting to get over that too! As far as my body, I don’t seem to have changed at all. my bras fit the same and I have DD’s so I’m hoping it doesn’t get too crazy. So embarrassing! I was surprised at how hard work is. I have to be on my feet a lot and work 3-11:30 pm so it is HARD. I’m really looking forward to the 2nd trimester.

This probably sounds stupid to a lot of people, but I’m blown away by the connection I feel to my baby ( I’m 28 weeks). Maybe because throughout my life I’ve had zero interest pregnant people, or ever actually thought about being pregnant. I mean, I guess I knew I would love her, but , I don’t know , I just find it to be the most amazing thing. Oh-and I would like to clairfy that I HATE everything else about being pregnant, so I’m not on some sort of pregnant rainbow train. I just wasn’t expecting to love her so much before she was born. I guess to me she is already here and I never looked at it that way before. Everything else that I thought was going to suck, has sucked.

my stomach isn’t round, it’s triangular because of the way the baby sits to the right – it looks so funny.
i’m 37 weeks and my belly button is still an innie!
I don’t have a linea nigra. I am really pale and I have gotten patches of darker skin on my arms, apparently caused by the oestrogen.
I wasn’t expecting hot flushes either, but I got them alot when sitting in my office at work with the aircon on.

So I just felt a drop on my side. I looked and there was a wet spot on my shirt, but I’m literally looking around at the ceiling for water drops or something until I realize my boob is leaking! Thank gosh it’s not a water issue in our house, but still it’s kind of weird and gross. and I’m just 6 at months. Definitely not expected.

@mrstilly: Agree on the boobs. When do they stop growing? I’m trying to decide whether to get more bras but they just keep getting bigger. Right now my boobs are still growing faster than my belly and I’m 18 weeks.

I am still really early on (5w4d), but there is a lot I wasn’t expecting.
- Hunger, like all the time
- Burping, I’m not a burper so this is odd
- Heartburn (one of my first symptoms) and luckily has gone away
- CM – it never stops it seems!

I never thought I’d be that pregnant lady who is constantly touching her belly, but I totally am. And I’m totally distracted by movement, I could sit around on the couch for hours when he’s moving with my hands on my belly just waiting to see what he’ll do next. My husband’s aunt talked to me right around 12 weeks about how once she gave birth to her kids, it was a little sad not having them “with” her anymore- that when she was pregnant, it was like having a little friend with you all the time and it was such a great, close feeling, and at the time I was like “um, whatever crazy lady” but now I think I’m starting to get what she means.

@Lozza: I am the same way when the baby moves. It is so distracting at work. I’m also constantly touching my belly.
It’s hard to say for sure, but I don’t think I’ll be heart broken that the baby isn’t in my belly anymore after the birth. I like being pregnant and I am attached to this baby, but I think I’ll do more bonding once he gets here. And I would LOVE to bend over and tie my shoes without it being a gigantic production.

@mrstilly: Yeah, I expect that once I hit the point of getting really uncomfortable I’ll be thinking something more along the lines of “ok, ready to issue an eviction notice here.”

@Lozza: “ok, ready to issue an eviction notice here.” LMAO!!

possible Too Much Information, but we tried to have sex near the end of my pregnancy, bc I knew it would be a long time after…poor Darling Husband, and I thought it might kick start labor…we literally COULD NOT have sex once the baby dropped. We really tried and it was physically impossible, LOL. So, hopefully you can throw your hubs a bone before then, but I know it has definitely been a dry spell for most of the last YEAR for us (LO is almost 4 mos) between morning sickness and everything else

@cannotwait: I’m not actually trying to solicit additional details, but I can’t really wrap my head around the “physically impossible” part… and I’m a little afraid to try any harder…
Thinking about things that will happen during those last few weeks (not to mention hours) of pregnancy scares the crap out of me.

maybe “physically impossible” was dramatic, but we did try and it was a FAIL My kiddo stayed dropped for 3.5 weeks before I went into labor, so I know that is longer than most people
