1. I can’t bake cupcakes
2. I don’t like cream cheese frosting
3. It makes for fun marital bonding
I had a craving for cupcakes and after seeing the cute ones on Cupcake Wars, said I was going to try to make some one day. I was going to make beautiful, creative cupcakes that made everyone ooh and ahh. DH pestered me til we finally made them together yesterday and, uhh….
I put the chocolate on them while DH was taking a break to watch tv. By then, i knew my decorating skills were a lost cause so I just went for “happy.” He came back, laughed at me, and reminded me it wasn’t Halloween yet. We had a lot of laughs over them.
The tops were a little overcooked and I thought the frosting tasted gross but DH liked them and is taking them to work today. I’m sure all our coworkers will be jealous of my skill

They look very, …. interesting?
I have had my fair share of cooking disasters. I was visiting a boyfriend in college and he got called into work for a few hours. I thought I’d be nice and make some macaroni & cheese (yes, I know, so very gourmet of me!), well, let’s just say I set off the smoke alarm & ruined a pot just trying to boil water.
*disclaimer: there may or may not have been alcohol involved.

It’s the thought that counts.

For the record, I’d like to add that I would eat those cupcakes without a second thought. As long as they taste good I don’t give a hoot what they look like!!

Ha, love it!! And love your sense of humor about it. None of us who like to bake escapes without a few, um, shall we say, “less than perfect” results. 😀
If you want to make them again, take them out when a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs on it – NOT when it comes out clean, no matter what the recipe says. This will prevent them from getting dry/overbaked.
