I had to let go of the idea of having mirrored tables, yes I love the look, but not for a 300$ per table tag, plus 500$ delivery for the mirrors. There are no rentals for them near me, so they would have to be costume maid, I ended up changing my wedding colors because of it, and it’s worked for the best.

If you like the centerpices that come with your venue, and they match your color scheme/theme, you should be fine.

@Laurenplusalex:  Flowers during the ceremony, luckily the room has 360 views of NYC but, I really wanted a whimsical feel to the room.  I am just having candles now which will hopefully look jsut as lovely!

@Laurenplusalex:  I had to let go of my centerpiece idea… I was actually going to copy a Fellow Bee who had amazing hot pink feather centerpieces at her wedding that she DIYed. She gave me instructions on how to make them, and I was going to make mine in red (theme color). Unfortunately life happened (what was I thinking tackling a project like that during work busy season?) so I had to make a last minute trip to the florist and get traditional floral centerpieces from them.

Honestly, I tried the DIY way to save some money, but if I had gone ahead and did the DIY route, all the supplies would have cost me only $200 less than my floral centerpieces cost. $200 just wasn’t worth my sanity.

We had to let go of the idea of having a gorgeous reception space.. we found a great ceremony location, but the only location without having our guests drive an insane amount for the reception was a community hall. Which is fine with us!

I had to let go of the idea of colored table linens. It made me so upset. I still feel a bit salty over it and my wedding was in September. Lol

Flowers…food…basically most everything we’re gonna DIY. Flowers from a farmer’s market/FFIL’s garden, and food will be (mostly) done ourselves in the days leading up.

A Winter Wedding… Doesnt work with my school schedule and people would have a hard time getting there because the weather tends to be bad where I live… I’ve always wanted a winter wedding since I was in high school trying on prom dresses and this woman in the bridal store had on the awesome coat over her wedding dress with a big white fur collar and a cathedral train

I let go of hanging shells on strings from the palm tree we got married under. I realized the tree was like 20 feet tall and it would have cost a small fortune to have 6 or 8 strands of shell hanging from it.

Well because of laws over here (“law of the land” where you have to be married ..and for funerals the body must be in the ground before sunset) I had to give up a late evening wedding and the ideas of my girls walking down the aisle with lanterns rather then bouquets. I really wanted them and though it would be sooooo cute. I’m having an afternoon wedding around 4:00  and by time as the reception starts the sun will be setting and the view of the water will be gorgeous so I can’t be to mad.
