My engagement ring! It has a vintage feel. So we're having a classic, yet modern wedding :)
coughing chandeliers. honestly i think i saw an invitation or something with a chandelier and was like ooooohhhh that's sooo me... and i love vintage any and everything. so it sort of worked...
my theme is/possibly was chandeliers, brunch, and feathers... it could be chandeliers, hor dvoures, and feathers though we'll see...
20+ years of loving everything to do with weddings!
Early in our engagement I found a pic of a cake I loved - lace-patterned frosting and tiers tied with bows and a pair of lovebirds on top. It started it all ... the lace dress, the obsession with bows, the movebird theme. Our tasting is next week and I can't wait to see if they can make it happen!
Oh wow, if I had to pick just one thing? That's pretty hard, but I'd probably say pale pale pink garden roses.
Our colors. I knew what our colors would be 2 days after we were engaged.
It was indeed the below image - ridiculous I know....But the colors continue to speak to me every single day...It has turned our 10.31.2010 wedding into a Masquerade themed event.....

Some people make not like this, but we imagined our wedding reception as the best night at the bar with your friends you ever had. Not sloppy or anything... but when it's all of your friends together, relaxed with a drink, and every song that comes on is one you know all the words to.
Ok I dont truly have a theme, colors, anything that inspires me except that I want a family feeling and oh yea the greatest party ever! I guess I just want everybody to have a great time. I dont know maybe I should start thinking about focusing this down. :)
I looked at local photog's site to find a venue, and the venue pics just blew me over. They were amazing! My whole wedding was focused on the scenery at my venue.
Paul Johnson Photographer, Meg Baisden, Sublime Studios, Style Me Pretty, & Southern Weddings! :) Blog following!
My venue inspired a lot of it, plus the fact that we were getting married in early December. The hotel was built in 1923, and although a chain purchased it about two years ago, they kept the original architecture, paintings, etc.
@Peyton --- oooooooohhhh. I just fainted a little, that is so pretty.
I really didn't have much of a "vision" until I read Mrs. Sprinkle's post here. The passage from Captain Corelli's Mandolin just made everything click for me - I'm planning to put that passage in our programs, and it has inspired me to create a graphic (like a wedding "logo", I guess), favours, colours, all those little details I didn't know what to do with.
So... Thanks, Mrs. Sprinkle! :D
An article I saw in theknot like YEARS before I was engaged (that they have since repeated twice...).
our venue inspired a lot of things for the wedding - we're getting married at the NY Botanical Gardens, so our invites are on plantable paper, and we're using a lot of flowers...
@krissycake - aww, thanks! :-) We loved the venue. We're supposed to get our professional pics back any day now, so I will be able to show off the venue even more. One thing that was neat was the floor-to-ceiling Christmas tree in the corner of the ballroom (to the right of the mirror).
A photo I have always admired of my grandparents on their wedding day, 60 years later it is still amazingly timeless. So I am going for the classic, simple elegance and timeless feel!
Our theme and the feel of our wedding came from wedding invitations that I found close to a year ago from Printable Press. I bookmarked them to use when we got engaged and we're using them! They're everything I wanted our wedding to be . . . whimsical and romantic.

My style has always been eclectic and that is exactly what my weddign will be...more vintage than anything. My dreess looks like it came straight from the 1950's!
other damask brides inspired my wedding vision. i honestly had no idea what is was til i became a member of the bee. once i saw it tho....boy did i fall in love!!
a couple of things.....
our venue: I wanted the look to be very natural
a pair of shoes: FI and I both own green and yellow shoes (fav colors) and that is where our colors came from!
a friends wedding: I saw hurricanes of limes at a friends wedding and right away knew that we wanted to do lemons and limes!!
I kind of knew our venue since I was 13 (which is weird, because other than that, I NEVER thought of weddings, or my dress or anything like that). The venue inspired us both once I showed it to him (yes, before we were engaged :P). It's modern vintage, just like us! A little bit traditional, a little bit modern. And then we were both inspired by fall. So our colors were plum and orange.
Well my ring is nice and blingy, David T. did a beautiful bling wedding, and our wedding is New Years Day. So that is how I came up with the pool blue, black, silver, and white bling theme NY Day bash.
Even though it may be overdone ... the beach. I've lived at the beach my whole life and it's such a part of me! My ceremony venue is on the beach ... and my reception venue is overlooking an inlet.

Oh ... and I can't get my mind off of this pail for my flower girl! :)

I think it was this image from The Perfect Palette. Perfect for our fall vineyard wedding!
Our wedding venue inspired it. We didn't want to take away from the beauty of Sedona, so our colors will reflect the red rock colors and the natural beauty of arizona.
My haritage/nationality/family. I'm Greek so I'm obsessed with the Greek theme (ie: Grecian Princess, Greek Goddess) and the blue villa roof tops gave me my central idea for my color scheme.

@krissycake: Oh, how I heart you!! :) My inspiration was a picture book that uses Mary Blair's concept art for Disney's Alice in Wonderland.

There was no one thing that really inspired the theme. We chose the colors based off our favorites--his is gray, and mine is "every color but orange," so I settled on blue because it flatters everyone. We both wanted a fairy tale/castle sort of wedding, and since Sleeping Beauty is his favorite Disney movie and she was always one of my favorites too, we went with that.
@clarebee, oh my gosh, I KNOW! I have seriously had that picture on my computer for like a year, not knowing who the designer was. Until I came to this board and found a link to Maggies website! But it was seriously love at first sight.
@ beachbride...I fall more and more in love with that pail everytime you most it somewhere :-)
@msmonicka ... i know! I love it, too! it's a DIY craft idea from Michael's. I'll definitely be using it .... now if I could only find the actual pail somewhere! :)
