I dont think a hostess should get a large gift. More a token of grattitude and a note (maybe a lunch out?).
When you host a dinner, your guests don't return the gesture in gifts.
Giving a large hostess gift just adds to the back and forth of gifts and thank yous etc. It needs to end somewhere. She expects a heart felt thank you, but I doubt she expects a large gift.
@katiee0707: I actually did get my MOH a gift for throwing my bridal shower - I got her a le creuset pot! She loved it.

I have no idea what to get my maid of honor. She is doing so much work and I want to get her something nice. I was thinking a nice candle, but that just doesnt seem up to par with all the work she's done. What are you/did you get your bridal shower host or do you have any suggestions? please help She is married, very domestic (with an adorable house) and very fashionable. I have no idea what to do!!
