Where do you live? I live in the Kansas City area and average prices for good photography ranges from 2500 to 9000. It's pretty steep.
My photographer is $225/hour with a three hour minimum and my DJ is $150 an hour, also with a three hour minimum. I have no idea what people usually pay, but I feel both these are reasonable.
lol, good question!!!
I live in New York. The event is taking place in the Bronx.
The company I'm talking about is nearby where we're having the event (Yonkers, not far): the church and hall. They travel, they've been to the church we're getting married in, I've seen their work, they have insurance, etc, etc. They seem very good.
I don't know how much it's going to cost for the DJ and photography together (without the other stuff). I know I'd like to stay with them. They took info from us about how the pictures would go, names of family, and other things. But I also don't want to spend more money than is necessary if there is cheaper (and good quality) out there.
So basically I'm wondering: what would be a good package for DJ and photographer? Should I get a package? What would be a good DJ price? What would be a good photographer price?
I'm asking people this because I just want to know ahead of time so that I can tell them yes or no on Tuesday, or perhaps yes to one and no to the other, etc.
it really depends on where you are, etc..
i'd say that here in northern california, $4000 is great if it's for DJ, photography, videography, and limo. but for photography..is that just wedding day (and how many hours? do you get charged extra if you go overtime?)...or does that include engagement?
hmm.. videography is about $1000 or more...photography is more than $2000. DJ should be $1000 or less. don't know about limo. hope that helps.
you should price compare in your area.
the 4,000 is for the whole thing: the DJ, photography, limo, and video.
I don't know what just two of them will be.
If you are going to spend that money, I would find out the quote, and then look at other photographers. My experience with "package" photographers isn't great... Usually the bundled or company owned ones are not going to give you as good of results, and you pay for the middle man of the company. Many times, you can get a much more talented photographer for the same price.
If you get the quote, and then no one can beat it in price and quality than you know you'll be getting a good deal.
we did see some albums of their work. they looked really good.
i did like these people, they seemed to really know weddings with their stuff....
ohhhhh...what to do, what to do.
i'll get a price quote and compare, the only thing is they might need an answer this week (we're planning on going in this week). we're already signed up with them and i want this done and out of the way. Our wedding's coming up in August.
SF prices (what I consider "resaonble"):
DJ Avg $150/hour is reasonable
Photographer: $2000-$5000
Videographer: $1000-$1500
Limo - no idea
hmmm. then those prices might mean we're okay with this company.
i'm sure we can get cheaper, somewhere. but should i trust some individuals such as those listed on craigslist, etc. should i take that chance...
i just read some of this companies reviews and i like what i see. i think i definitely want to use their DJ.
the company is called don't stop the music, inc. Their main office is in Yonkers, NY.
I live in Tallahassee, but my wedding is in Panama City, Florida. I found a DJ for $225, but that's a discount. In my previous experience, DJs can range from $500-$750 for weddings. My photographer, www.eltonandersonphoto.com, averages from $2500-$5000, which is the average price AMAZING photographers.
Here are my prices:
Photographer: $2500
DJ: $700
I live in a rural area, so these might be a little lower than in a city.
We are paying $2500 for photog and $1500 for DJ. But DJ is a huge splurge, we could probably get a good one for $1000ish.
I would never go with a bundled package personally. It's just very conveyor-belt, and the price wouldn't be much cheaper than what I'm paying. I don't think you need to go to Craigslist or take a chance necessarily, but there are good, reasonable independent DJs and photographers out there - it just takes time and effort to look.
We got our photographer for $2000/all day, and our dj for about $550/all night, but I know these prices are a little low because we REALLY bargain shopped before booking anything.

I am changing my original package with this company which gave us a DJ, Photography, Limo, and Video. Money is too tight.
So we're just going with their DJ and photographer. I'd like to stay with them for the DJ and photography, they really seem to know what they're doing, they're very experienced. They're also right near the church/hall. However, before I do that, I want to know: what is a good price for a photographer? What is a good price for a DJ? We're really tight on money and I want to get the best deal possible.
We need to let them know what we're doing this week...
Thanks!
