maybe some type of spray garden rose? they both have cabbage-y heads and the spray roses (like kabuki) would be smaller and closer to the size of a ranuculus
I agree with a garden rose, or you might find dahlia that works depending on the color you are looking for
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going with garden roses and spray roses, since I learns peonies are expensive in August. I like the idea of using some dahlia too... as long as they hold up in the heat.
I wanted ranunculus for my flowers too! But again they are out of season in October. The florist told me that open roses will look close, they just set them out a little before and let them open up.

The photo I am mimicing for centerpieces uses ranunculus and roses. However, ranunculus is out of season in August. What is a good alternative that I can use to replace the ranunculus?
