I'm having a destination wedding on an island in a few months. I have five bridesmaids (two are my sisters) and one of the five bridesmaids is ten years old. Anyway, today I bought each of my bridesmaids a coach wristlet (50 dollars each) and I plan on getting my junior bridesmaid a pandora charm for her bracelet. I am also going to purchase each one of them a pair of inexpensive flip flops. My fiancé thinks I spent a lot of money...which will prob end up being about 55 dollars on each... Does anyone think this is too much? I've only been in one wedding and the bride prob spent about 30 bucks give or take on each of us. I haven't had my shower or bachelorette party yet so I really don't have an assessment on how much effort and energy they invested in my wedding. On the other hand, I obviously know they are shelling out money to be at my wedding since it is In the carribean, and are also taking time off from work, etc. Please share your thoughts on this! Also, do you think Coach wristlets are a good gift or impersonal??

My BM gifts were *worth* about $35-$40 a peice but I found a lot of deals (bath and body works stuff) so I only spent about $15-$20 a peice. I think it really depends on your budget. My entire wedding budget was about $6,000 - $7,000 so to spend say $100-$200 on a gift was out of the question.

I would love it if someone gave me a Coach wristlet as a gift!

That is a really nice gift and it all depends on what you can afford and personal taste.

I got my girls a personalized hanger for their dresses (and pictures), got them Bridesmaids shirts (that's how I ask them to be my BM), and I'm getting them earrings (that they could use at the wedding if they want or not)

@Shell29:  I spent about 30 on each of my girls, plus made them handmade thank you cards, and paid for them to get their hair done. 30-50 dollars seems the norm where I'm from.

Oh by the way, it's a virus cos it's an .exe file. This user has been bombing the boards with it and has been flagged. Just don't open it.

I think that you have done a lot for your girls, love the wristlet's. I don't think that it's too much considering, like you said, it is a DW. If I were Goldilocks I would say that it was just right.

@Shell29:  it's a .exe file that will want you to download it to your computer; websites do NOT end with .exe

Thanks for the feedback. I just wasn't sure if I am going overboard and/or am getting impersonal gifts. Im also going to write them a thoughtful thank you note inside a card so I guess in a sense I am personalizing their gift. My budget is around ten thousand for the wedding, which doesn't include my dress, alterations, or our wedding bands. So I guess I could afford to spend the $250 on my girls. like I said, it's a destination wedding, should I would feel really cheap getting them a twenty dollar gift considering all the expenses they've incurred for my upcoming wedding.

Love the wristlet idea! I'm sure the your girls will love them! I am spending about $40-$50 on each of my four BMs. I got them each a bracelet and stud earrings to wear on the wedding day. I got a good deal on those so I hope to also get them $25 gift certificates towards their hair for the wedding, and some goodies from Bath & Body Works

Thanks, girls! I figured they could have/use the Coach bags beyond the wedding since they are colors that go with everything. Also, I would obviously love a Coach bag if I were a bridesmaid so that was my logic in the gift decision-making. I didn't pay for any of their expenses for the wedding so I just assumed that fifty bucks per girl isn't a big deal. I read up on people's posts about their spending on BM gifts and the dollar amount is all over the place, ranging from 15 bucks to 100 or more, I am middle class and am paying for my wedding by myself (with my fiancé) but thankfully, destination weddings are a lot less expensive than a large wedding at home, so we will prob end up spending right around 10 to 12 thousand for everything.

Sounds good to me, but your math isn't adding up for me - $50 for a wristlet, PLUS a pandora charm, plus flip flops for $55?  I thought the Pandora charms were like $25-75?

But anyway, that sounds like a very nice gift and I'm sure your girls will be happy!

I tried to spend what my girls spent to be a part of the wedding. They had to purchase dresses and shoes and they also spent money to host a shower and bachelorette party. A few of the girls came from out of town and had to stay at the hotel for the wedding weekend as well. I got each of them a COACH wristlet (I found in the outlets for about $35 each), and I also paid for hair/makeup for the day of the ceremony. This ran me about $130 per girl. My husband had custom cufflinks made for each of the groomsmen and paid for their tuxedo rental. I think if we added all the bm/gm together and took an average it was somewhere in the $120 range.

I think its important for you to do what you are comfortable with. We made it a point to include this money in our budget from the beginning -- otherwise I don't think that we would have been able to be so generous.

I didn't get everyone a pandora charm...just my ten-year old sister. The other girls, I got a Coach wristlet, which was 50 each. The flip flops are about 5 bucks each.

I think I'll probably end up in the $50-$60 dollar range. I wish I could do soo much more for them though, they are definitely worth it!

I spent $85 - $90 on each bridemaid/flower girl and I may even spend a few dollars more and get a tote bag to put everything in. I did get them some things that pertain specifically to the wedding but, some items could be used again (robe, pearl bracelet, hand painted wine glass). I only have 4 total including the flower girl.

    RNskillet    June 8, 2013   I travel. A lot.

I plan to spend around 100-150$ on each but I'm generally a very generous person and a little excessive at times. Also plan to have a small wedding party (3 BM, 1 JBM)
