    Hey everyone,

I am registering at three places (hope that's not too many?)

    1. Macy's

    2. Crate and Barrel

    3. ?

Do you think Bed, Bath, and Beyond or Target is a better place to register. I want something affordable for my guests. I love both places, just wondering what you all thought?

    Thanks.

Oh gosh! I love both places! I always shop at Target because it is cheaper. But, since people are buying you the stuff, I would probably put Bed Bath and Beyond! Its not like its REALLY expensive, so they should be able to find resonable things for you. And whatever you don't get from there, you can just go pick up for cheap at Target! :)

We registered at bed bath and beyond. We have had two wedding showers and loved our experience with them. They were so easy to register with, the store employees super friendly, have easy returns, wrap gifts for guests in store free of charge etc etc

Also, I don't think BBB is really that expensive. Customers are also able to use all of those 20% off coupons that they receive in the mail!

I have heard bad things about target registries and that their return policy is hard to work with.

    Good luck deciding!

BBB will be much easier on returns than Target... and they have those great 20% off coupons!

We registered at both. Depends on what you're looking for - Target has electronics, which is something BB&B doesn't have. We have a digital camera and Wii on our registry.

I would actually vote for Target because it's pretty accessible to most people (at least in my part of the country). Macy's, C&B and BB&B are only in larger towns, so unless your guests are ordering online, it might not be convenient for them.

I registered at both (those are our only two registeries) so I think it depends on what else you're looking to register for that you don't have from your C&B and Macy's registries.

BB&B has nicer small appliances, pots and pans, bedding, etc while Target has some fun things like electronics, outdoor items (we've registered for bocce ball, a tent and sleeping bags, etc.).

I've heard some not great things about Target's return policy but if people are using your registry, I don't think you're going to have that much you need to return.  Especially because the return policy is only bad without a receipt.  There can't be much you'd need to return that you also don't have a gift receipt for.

We registered at Macys, Crate & Barrel and BB&B. I would say BB&B is better than Target because they always have 20% coupons and their inventory is not ever changing like Target.  I feared registering at Target I would find something we loved and then they wouldnt carry it in a couple weeks.  Also, BB&B has a great simple return policy, Target is very strict with theirs.

@ KMM: I registered at Target for my baby shower. So, I assumed that since people used it, I wouldn't get duplicates and stuff. I was so wrong! I got quite a bit of 2' of things because Target is so horrible at updating their registry! If they do add the return receipt you are ok, but most of my gifts didn't have them and then I had to keep 2 of some things, like a rubber ducky bathtub! haha! We registered at both Target and BB&B, our only 2 also, so I hope that Target does better with the registry, or people include gift receipts!

Bed Bath was super easy to make returns too and most of our items were delivered to the house and nothing was damaged in the shipping.  I've heard horrible stories of Target's return policy so I stayed away from there. Although I love shopping there!

I also did Macy's and their return takes awhile in the store. For instance, I took 4 items at one time to return.  All 4 items were bought from different people. They scanned item 1 and gave me a gift card for the amount.  Then scanned item 2 and gift card and so on.  So it took a while and I left with multiple cards.  However, they have a gift registry manager that keeps track of who bought you what so if you didnt' get a gift receipt they can look it up and give you the amount that they bought it for.  Which is nice when the item is at a lower price when returning.

Thank you so much for all your advice.

@naangel55: I LOVE Target and right now I'm loving a lot of their inventory, but I know what you mean by them not having the same thing in a few months. That's such a great point! I really love thier bed and bath section. Seems like that's the part that changes more frequently.

I appreciate it all! I think I'm going to go with Bed, Bath, and Beyond.

    Thanks again :)

Just one thought.  I don't want to burst your bubble or anything - I just want to correct what I see as misinformation.

My FI and I registered at BB&B and Target at the same time and we have had WAY more items off our BB&B registry go unavailable due to inventory change than off our Target registry.  We have a pretty equal total number of items on each (a little more at BB&B, but not exteme) and we had to redo almost half of the BB&B registry while we only had to replace 2 items at Target.

While I love shopping at both stores - target has a very strict return policy (limiting the dollar amount you can return, limiting store credit without receipt returns, etc), while BB&B has a very generous return policy and has no problem with returns without a receipt. And no of course you dont plan on a lot of returns, but every shower I've been to has had a few duplicates of the same item, so its definitely important to consider.

I vote BB&B for your 3rd registry (And I think 3 looks okay, but definitely no more than that).

We registered at BBB and only 3 items off our registry needed to be updated because they went out of stock (and we registered in November).  People love BBB registries because of the coupons.

Oh and I wouldn't register for a lot of items right now.  I'd wait to about 3 months before the wedding.  We did the 6 months out like you read about and guess what... all our dishes were discontinued and some of our serving platters at Macys and our Lamps & bath stuff at BB&B.  We didn't get gifts until 2-3 months out.  So I wish we would have waited because it was a headache to go back and figure out new items.

We chose BB&B because you can return gifts for cash. Glad we did because we've already received duplicates and non-registry things we don't want.

We registered at both and hardly anything was bought off the Target registry, BBB is just about fulfilled. Bed Bath and Beyond gives you a one-time 10% coupon to buy anything up to 90 days after your wedding off your own registry that you didn't get, Target doesn't offer that. My only complaint about BBB is that I registered for bedding and it was almost immediately discontinued. So I picked another one. Same thing happened a few weeks later. I went through this about 4 times and it was sooooo frustrating cause I started running out of cute options! But between the 2, I'd go with BBB.

BBB lots of options and great return policy!  Also the 20 percent off coupon is the best!  Pluz I believe you get like 10 percent off coupon for things that haven't been bought.

I don't beleive Target does that.  Returning things there is a headache if you don't have a receipt.

But I have registered at both, just cuz I don't feel like a department store or anything else.  I mainly want kitchen supplies!

There is no reason why you should really need to return gifts (if you don't want them, don't register!) so I choose Target - BBB's are usually a disaster, and Target has a good variety of designs. I registered at both places and preferred Target.

We registered at C&B, Macy's, and Bed, Bath & Beyond. The main reason I registered at Bed Bath & Beyond is because I thought the 20% off coupon would help out my guests. Plus, IMO, they had a better selection for what I was looking for. I still LOOOOVE Target though, they just didn't have the stuff I needed to register for. :)

BB&B definitely.  Most of our guests are choosing to shop there, probably since they have so many locations.  Their customer service is much better than Target's.

this should be a poll!  BB&B is my pick - although i am registered at both!  they always have coupons in the mail - so that makes people feel like they're saving money and may spend more...  and they have a great return policy if you get doubles!

BB&B has MUCH better customer service when you're registering.  They went way out of their way to help us make our registry.  We had to practically beg Target to let us register there because all of the sales associates ignored us.

We registered at both but I think it depends on location and which one your guests would be more comfortable using.  I love the things we registered for at BB&B but we have yet to receive anything from that store, and have received tons of things from our Target and Amazon registries.

A note about Target's return policy:  It can be a pain to return something without a gift receipt, but as long as they bought it off your registry (like people who received duplicate items) you can print out a "registry receipt" at the kiosk of all the things people bought for you off your registry and it works just like a gift receipt.

My only gripe about Target is how often their inventory changes!  Half the things we registered for in the beginning are no longer in the store, and it's frustrating trying to figure out what is missing and reregistering for something similar.  There are so many things I LOVED when we registered for and won't be receiving simply because they no longer carry it.

I'm registered at BBB and I absolutely love it. I said this in another post, but all of my formal china and crystal was significantly cheaper at BBB than at Macy's. Also, I found so many amazing kitchen gadgets, casseroles, linens, etc that I genuinely adore. I feel like if you want nice china, flatware, etc, and even higher quality cookware and gadgets, Target's not always the best choice. I know it's popular because the prices are lower, but I feel like it's best to register for quality and let people get you gift certificates or cash if they'd prefer not to shop your registry.

BTW 3 places isn't too many! I mean, it's not like you're registered for 300 gifts per store, right? ;D Honestly, I think it's a good idea to be registered at a couple different stores, because it gives people more options and it could be so convenient for those that don't want to shop for you online.

I'm only registered at BBB and Target. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't have registered at Target at all. As many others have said, their inventory is constantly changing! If something disappears off of the registry because they no longer carry it, and then I go to try to add something else from their website in its place, it's hard to find items that are available online AND in stores (which I would prefer, to make it easier for people depending on how they want to shop). Although the Target store is closer to many of my guests than BBB, almost all of my registry items have been from BBB so far, so I think that says something about the convienece of BBB.

Also, it's super annoying that you have to have a gift receipt to return things to Target. At BBB, as long as they bought it off the registry, you can return it without a receipt. Plus, if you didn't get everything you wanted off your registry at BBB, you can "finish" your registry by buying any remaining items for 10% off.

I presonally like Bed Bath & Beyond better...seem to d oa better job with their registry and plus I'm really nervous with the stories I've heard about returning things at Target.  We also registered at Crate & barrel...they were very nice to register with and we'll see about the return policy pretty soon!

I agree with those that said BBB is better overall. While it is a little more expensive, you're probably going to get a couple things that you either want to return or got two of, etc. BBB has a great return policy and great customer service. I'm registering at both BBB and Target as well as amazon.com (we want board games and some movies- also my cookware is way cheaper on there).

BB&B all the way!  They have EVERYTHING possible - with tons more on their website.  Plus every month I get 20% off coupons in the mail - which I will be saving up for after the shower!  Also, when we registered, they were having a Caphalon promo in which you get a $50 gift card for every $300 spent on Caphalon - and we registered for $1000 worth of their product so if we have to buy it ourselves, it will be a great incentive!  Plus they give you incentives for wedding for certain items and when a certain amount of items are bought you get free things.

BB&B FOR SURE! They were so accomodating when we registered there... offered us drinks and all. They have everything and IMO, better quality products than many items at Target. I had to badmouth Target because I do love it so, but it's your wedding- go for the good stuff! I was able to register for everything Mr. Birdy and I wanted minus the luggage which I am buying tomorrow at Macy's because they are having an unbelievable sale.

GOOD LUCK! have fun registering... one of my fav parts so far!
