Are we including alcohol or not?
Ours is at a country club and it's going to end up being about $50 per person including alcohol. Without alcohol, it's about $35 or so.
Might have to detail what's included. For example, with or without bar? Because my total cost per head includes: cocktail hour with passed hors'd., full open bar and plated dinner... so there's a lot included (and it adds up quickly!)
@pinkpinstripes: I forgot to add in hors'd....I guess that ups the cost a bit.
Our catering is $75pp. That includes all food (including hors d'oeuvres but NOT including dessert), all non-alcholic beverages, and staff. Since our wedding is off-site, it also includes table and chair rentals, linens, silverware, dishes and glasses.
It doesn't include booze.
$20 per person. This doesnt' include alcohol (we're doing an open bar through a different company).
This includes:
MIne includes tax, gratuity, hors dourves, raw bar, full open bar and tips... a little over $100 per person....
I just did some math - with what we're paying for booze and cake, we'll be paying $90 pp total.
we are at $130 pp all in. Include 5 hr open bar, hirs d'oeuvres, gratuity and service charge.
Oye, I forgot to include cake.
Ok so for hord's, a buffet with prime rib and chicken, salad bar, sides, a dessert bar, a cocktail hour, cake, and alcohol ours is running about $60 per person.
I clicked $41 to $50 because my food per person is $38, plus tax and tip. If I add the cost of the bar, for which I'm bringing in my own alcohol and bartenders, the cost is another $10 per person. Add dessert bar, and it's another $8 per person. Finally, for the rentals I had to get because my place doesn't come with those included, its about another $5 per person.
So grand total is right around $67 per person.
Ours is running us $150 per head, but it's the 10.25% Chicago sales tax and 22% service charge that kills...making it $200 pp. This includes passed hors'd, champagne toast, full open bar, and 4 course sit down dinner. We'll let guests choose a fish or beef entree. Children under 12 will run us $35 per head thank goodness, plus the tax and service too.
I initially clicked on $11 - $20, but after including tableware/flatware, alcohol, and servers, it'll be closer to $25 or $30, which I still think is pretty good considering that I'm looking at 250 people for a served buffet.
We are about 245 pp, including cocktail hour, hors dourves, 4 course dinner, dessert, and alcohol, (plus tax and tip). A lot more then I thought it would be but I am told pretty normal for NYC.
$30 a person including hors d'oeuvres, cake and non alcoholic drinks. Alcohol is open but by consumption, so we won't know that exact cost until the day of (though of course we are having them keep us updated on the running tab so it doesn't get too high for us to handle!)
oh my goodness.... i am so glad i do not live in a huge city. we are doing all our food (including soft drinks, linens, servers, and gratuity) for about 15 dollars a head. it is a buffet but there are so many more options for our guests and it is catered by one of the higher end restaurants in town so im happy with that! of course the alcohol is a whole other cost that im sure will add up quickly.
If we include the cake, meal, and alchohol, we are paying about $80.00 per person.
If I include the buffet, wine service, and an alternate drink ticket, as well as cake per person we clock in around $70ish including tax and tip.
Buffet is $50
Enough wine for 2 glasses per person is $10
A drink ticket is $7.00
and cake divided by # of guests is roughly $4.00, although I'm having more slices than guests just to get the look I wanted.
For the food(stations and passed hors d'ouvres) , open bar, and table and linen rentals it is $95 per person. That does not include the cake.
If I divide up our alcohol budget amongst our guests it works out to around $75 per head for food and drinks. However, if I factor in cake it's at $80... sheesh!
I clicked $31-$40 without thinking about it because the dinner is $36 per person. But if you add in appetizers, it's $43 per person, without tax, tip or booze. We have a consumption bar and we're putting $1500-$2000 behind the bar.
We're having a late ceremony, 6pm, then reception immediately following. guests can have some cocktails and tour the train museum below the hall while we are out doing pictures until 8ish. So we are only doing some hor d'oeuvres, not much. its costing us around $8.50 a person which includes the caterers delivery, set up, punch, coffee, tea, cups, plates, silverware, napkins, any condiments and such. then we are paying the reception venue about $500-$600 for the alcohol. Our guest list is around 200-240. who knows how many will really show
The base rate is $165 per person--this includes passed hor'ds, 4 course sit down meal, open bar, champagne etc. This does NOT include tax and tip--with those it will probably be closer to $200 per person.
After gratuity and state tax we're paying $195 a head for food/liquor (cocktail hour, 4 hr open bar, champagne, sit down dinner).
We're doing our own food with a friend who is a chef and does all the local dinners so he knows how to cook for a crowd on a budget. I anticipate under $10pp.
Our per person is $85, but in our case this includes everything- passed appetizers and stations during the cocktail hour, a full plated dinner and 4 hours of open bar. All rentals for linens, tables, chivari chairs, silverware, dishes and use of the space are included in this price so I think it's fair!
I wish I could find something in the $21-30 range!! Here, it's impossible to find anything for less than $40 for the food alone! We're having an open bar, dinner buffet and a late snack and it will cost us about $75-80 a person.
We are at $96 pp (minus alcohol that we purchase ourselves)
This includes cocktail hour with bar set up and six passed appetizers
Seated dinner
Wedding Cake
Taxes, gratuity, tables/chairs/linens, staff, etc.
Wow I'm jealous of the double digit brides! LOL With all my mind-changing and menu changing, we're finally decided and it tops around $126 a head; all taxes, fees, rentals, open wine bar and cocktail hour, sit down luncheon, dessert display, and wedding cupcakes.
Hmm, with linens/plates/etc., alcohol, and food we are at about $30 a head. I bought the linens/plates/etc., am having a semi-open bar (keg, wine, champagne, soda, lemonade, coffee, and iced tea provided, everything else is pay), and have a really great menu (prime rib, bbq chicken, grilled chicken, salad w/ 4 dressing choices, potato salad, pasta salad, rolls, bisquits, mac n' cheese, asparagus, wedding cake, chocolate mints, then cowboy caviar and bacon wrapped chicken for apps).
I had to work to get that price though. That is all through about four different companies.
I think you need to change the poll to add in some higher options...
Ours - in Northern California - is $96 per person, including linen and place setting rentals (but not tables and chairs), service, taxes, bar set up, 4 passed hors + stationary hors buffet, salad and bread, and buffet dinner (salmon or tri tip) with sides. That does NOT include any beverages (add another $12/person for beer, wine, champagne, and one specialty cocktail) or dessert (add another $8/person).
The scary thing is that I do not think my caterer changes nearly enough. Most of the other proposals I got for the same set-up were $130-$150/person. The caterer we chose has by far the best food, but I am not sure how they are not bankrupt.
Ours was $25/person includes: passed hors, table appetizers, salad, main course, bread, water etc.
We paid for separately: beer, wine, champagne, soda, cake, candy bar.
We got a quote at $33 per person, although we are trying to whittle that down with our prospective caterer.
$65 buffet/person (including 3 appetizers)
$35 beer & wine/person ($10 under 21)
$7 cake/person (from reception inn)
=$107
+ alcohol sales tax
+20% tip

I hate to ask this and do not mean to pry but I am running across a wide variety of catering costs and I was curious as to what you bees are paying / did pay for your catering per person. I am still in a huge toss up as to where to host the wedding (Vegas or Utah) and would love to know what you girls feel is reasonable or way too cheap/ expensive. Thanks!!
