Crinoline is essentially a slip for the dress. It usually has mutliple layers to “fluff” up certain dresses especially the ball gown type.

They do look awesome dyed!

There are all sorts of materials.  I have heard that the ones from David’s Bridal are the best for dying because of the material that they are made of.  I dont exactly know what material they are made of off the top of my head, but some bees bloged about it and there should be a tutorial on dying up on here somewhere.
