My fiance and I went to the jeweler today and designed his band, it’s an old style made by the Turks where it’s two rings that fit together. He is having each ring engraved, well, not engraved, I don’t remember the term but the characters will be IN the gold so they won’t wear off. The engraving will be on the inside of each ring, so when they’re together, you can’t see the engraving and it looks like one ring. I promise to post photos when it’s done 🙂 We need to tell him what we want before he can make the wax mold.
Each ring can have 18 characters. One will say “Jim&Sarah 06.30.13”. Vote for the other side and share what you have in your bands!!
I’m partial to the Latin ones. His father was murdered when he was young, and I desiged a tattoo he has on his forearm with the cross from his father’s grave and his name, date of birth and death, and a saying in Latin.
With the coordinates, we LOVE geocacheing.

my enagagment ring wa engarved with “I love you more, the most, now & always”
his band was engraved with “with my whole heart for my whole life”
and my wedding band will be slightly geeky “as you wish”

I like the coordinates of your wedding best.
Our wedding bands will say “You come too.” on them. It’s a line from this poem by Rainer Maria Rilke:
Understand, I’ll slip quietly
away from the noisy crowd
when I see the pale
stars rising, blooming, over the oaks.
I’ll pursue solitary pathways
through the pale twilit meadows,
with only this one dream:
You come too.
It is so perfect for us, FI’s sister cried when she read it, lol.

We haven’t married yet, but he just got mine engraved in Turkish (we’re honeymooning in Turkey) so I don’t even know what it says! He is going to tell me the meaning when we get married. I could look it up, but I promised not to 🙂
FI is getting a ring that is also in two pieces that fit together. Its a coastal ring, where you tell the designer the coordinates of a coast anywhere in the world and they create the ring to have that coast on it… Not sure what I’m going to engrave yet though – I don’t want to do the typical thing everyone does. I’d like it to have some special meaning so maybe a movie quote or song lyric that means something to us.

@adoc86: What an awesome surprise for you!!
It’s not totally original because it’s coming as a suggestion from me, but coordinates to somewhere special to you would really go with that ring…
